on my hols so popped into here on a thursday lunch time, fish and chips were stunning, the 2nd best ive ever had so having it again tonight before we go home cant wait.they even give free chips to oaps at lunch time when you buy fish, never heard of that before, really nice people as well, all cooked to order, fish was nice and white and the batter was really crispy and cooked at the way through without leaving uncooked batter underneath, big chunky chips, couldnt be better.

It seems that this establishment doesn't change their oil frequently enough. The batter was too brown and sodden with oil,the fish within was tasty but spoiled by the batter. The chips were also overcooked and though edible were too brown and though edible not the best I have had. However, the place seems to have a good local clientele, so all I can say is that they must be doing something right.

Our local chippy use to be great. But the last three times it has not be good. The last time the chips were awful, the fish was watery and I would say under cooked, the batter used to be lovely but it was horrible, thick soggy inedible. Sorry we wonât be coming back for a while.

Visited Alcombe Fish Bar this evening to recce for the âroyal visitâ next week...Our guests are fastidious âfish & chip connoisseursâ and we have been checking out the options available in Minehead.Last week we caught a cold at âTomâsâ (NEVER AGAIN... VILE!) so tonight it was the turn of Alcombe Fish Bar.Friendly service, clean premises... AND VERY VERY TASTY FISH & CHIPS!Hot, fresh and good portion size. Unlike the frozen rubbish last week at âTomâsâ.I have a feeling the search for the âbest fish & chips in townâ has just ended!

On holidays so decided on fish and chips for dinner .We purchased 4 lots for us, note that no card payments are accepted. Chips were lovely. However fish needed few more minutes, fish itself was thin, batter was bright yellow, thick and not crispy at all. I usually love the batter bit but in this instance I had to take it off.Shame.
