The chef and owner knows what he is doing. The Mac and cheese that is on the appetizer section is amazing and should be a main entree. Salads are wonderful and satisfying. Music was fabulous with Doug Pettigrew, Danny Beal and Bonnie Gibson.
I have been there now four times after it was recommended to me by the desk clerk where I am staying. He said it is where he takes his family out. It has very good food and they will do things other than what is on their menu - like guacamole which was some of the best we have had!
We saw the photo posted on Tripadvisor and thought "wouldn't it be nice to sit at the beach with proper table cloths and good service?" Well we enjoyed our server, Frederico, our meals (Camarones Provencial - in a white wine sauce served with steamed veggies and Dorado Veracruzana - served in a robust tomato-based sauce with julienned bell peppers, carrots and a few olives tossed in), the view of the sunset colors beyond the rocky point and the modest prices: 3 beers and the two described dishes for 370 pesos, less than $20US at current exchange. A very pleasant dining experience in Melaque.

This is not a large restaurant and it is along a side street. It is a family-run restaurant with great service and very enjoyable food. Don't overlook this gem.

Our favorite spot for a meal on the beach for sunset had been Marlena's in Barra, until she moved. But we tried Albatros, on the beach in Melaque, and it was great. The restaurant/bar has seating above beach level or down on the sand. They have lots of big umbrellas to provide shade from the sun. They have happy hours. They have live music some nights, starting at 7 or later. We loved their onion rings, in a panko-style coating rather than heavy batter. My wife had their Camarones al Coco - coconut shrimp - some of the best we have had - served with a delicious sauce which had hints of ginger and tamarind. I had dorado with cilantro butter sauce - delicious and perfectly cooked. The sunset is not your classic - El Sol dips behind the mountains - but still lovely. Fine service. Albatros is now our favorite waterfront restaurant on the Bahia de Navidad!

We are a full service restaurant that specializes in fine food dining. Our benchmark is great service and quality fresh food. Dine in or take out.
A group of us headed to de Maria on the Beach for a group birthday celebration. The new location is wonderful. Right on one of the most swimmable beach areas in Melaque. The owner was very friendly and welcoming.Everyone was very happy with their orders and the servings were generous in size. I am surprised by one reviewers comment about the issue with the alcohol in the margaritas. I had three margaritas and if anything, I found them a little weak. Perhaps the restaurant got a bad bottle when they were there?Excellent service and good food on a great beach!

Beautiful view at the Laguna site ! Delicious gourmet food and excellent service! Nice menu ! The restaurant serve the second best tequila Orgullo Latino
4 of us for dinner-all of us felt the same about our experience. We sat on the balcony overlooking the water which was very pleasant. Excellent service. Meals: Garlic shrimp; red snapper; veal wienerschnitzel all were superb with beautiful presentation. Had flan for dessert also very tasty. Would highly recommend this restaurant for an evening meal.

We dropped in for lunch just after noon, and it appear that Red Lobster was changing from breakfast service to lunch service, so this might explain the very slow service. 20 minutes to be served our first beverages (orange juice and a mineral water) and almost an hour until we were served our food. But why am I giving it a 4 you ask? Because the camarones al coco were some of the best we have ever eaten. As well, the fajitas all pollo were very tasty (although we prefer the fajitas at Señor Froy in Barra, served on a hot cast iron plate). Excellent value! Two meals, two freshly squeezed OJ and a mineral water for 270 pesos!

I can't imagine slower service. The first trip here the food was quite good but we waited 45 minutes after twice asking for our check. We went a few days later and the portions of molcajete we're drastically smaller. We ordered two portions to share amongst four people which was plenty the first night. The second trip the portions were drastically smaller. We also ran out of tortillas twice and finally gave up asking and finished without tortillas. I felt the service and inconsistency are not worth the higher prices charged here. Much better food, service and prices can be found in Barra.
