I'm now keeping a promise that I made some time ago. I've had a bad conscience all that time for not reviewing this restaurant that we walked past every day on our holiday but only visited on the last night. The food was exceptional and how often is it that a fish platter can actually fill you up? Mum Hilary and her daughter Rebecca were welcoming hosts and they were justifiably proud of Tasos and the cooking skills of his family from Kalymnos. Whilst I am sure things can happen in the mean time, I am relieved to see a recent post that fully endorses my feelings but in no way lessens my guilt!

Located in a beautiful garden setting, with views across the sea to Kalymnos, this authentic taverna serves wonderful fresh Greek food. The menu is fairly minimal, but the dishes are extremely tasty and ingredients are usually picked from the garden on order. The 2 brothers that run the tavern are very friendly, and the service is superb. Situated approx. 2/3 km from Mastihari near the Achilleas resort.

Called for lunch on my first day in Mastichari. Lovely traditional looking taverna in a good location. No sardines but suggested mackerel as an alternative, however I'm not a fan so just had a Greek Salad, tzatziki and a beer. Very stingy portion of feta on the salad.Service a bit on the cool side despite not being particularly busy. Was disappointed as Mavros came recommended. Would have tried again but too many other places to try within a limited time.

Tranditional Greek Family Taverna Ouzeri by Periklis in Mastichari... Here we serve a lot of fresh fish, mezes, meat and also Greek Tranditional Food...
Never had a bad meal here! Have to go at least once every time we are on Kos, so we have lost count now how many times we have been. The fish is always great, and very fresh if you go for the line catch of the day!

We visited at lunchtime and just wanted a plate of French fries and a couple of drinks. Service was polite and quick. We both received a generous plateful of fries each which you could tell had been freshly done. Prices reasonable so wouldnât have a problem recommending it

Arrived early (for me) as I wanted one of the recommended mojito's and to see the sunset before eating.Mojito's full of the freshest mint but not very strong, OK for 6â¬. Very entertaining people watching - a group of "beautiful people" who were taking a huge number of photos and selfies, attempting to be ironic but you could see they were totally in love with themselves, it was so funny.Able to get a table with a good view of the setting sun and settled down with a carafe of chilled wine. Not overly busy, I'd heard it was heaving the previous evening and so the service was excellent. Sold out of the fried zucchini so had aubergine salad, a hot chargrilled, garlic and herb stuffed delight served with very good bread, a small Greek salad with disappointingly pale, cold, unripened tomatoes and then a superb prawn saganaki. Not the often served Heinz tomato soup style sauce but a delicate herby, ouzo flavoured yummy one with tiny cubes of fresh tomato and feta.Entertainment was provided by the fat dog and numerous cats who played happily together and pounced on grasshoppers for ages.Nice to be offered mozzie spray as the evening wore on by one of the charming brothers but I'd come prepared with my own. They were happy to call a taxi for me which arrived promptly.Food, drink and 2 taxis - my most expensive night out in 11 days spent on 3 islands but worth every euro and certainly the most entertaining! One star knocked off for the poor tomatoes in the Greek salad!!!

This is an authentic Greek seafood family run restaurant. Although tucked away, donât miss it. The mixed seafood plate is excellent - whatever is fresh off the boat. Cooked by father whoâs been doing this for many years. Friendly family run business. The whole family loved it.
