Note that this review is for the new Crestview location since it's not currently listed on TripAdvisor as yet, and haven't been to the Mary Esther location. My family ate there last Saturday Sept 14 for my daughter's birthday. We were very disappointed given the number of good quality seafood places in and around the area. My daughter got the crawfish, shrimp, and sausage boil... and we could tell it wasn't fresh. The oysters were overcooked. The catfish were 4 small nuggets, and hardly filling. And the onion rings were over-breaded and terrible. The fried shrimp were about the best thing that we tried. The fries were just okay. And we had a pleasant waitress (Melissa). We debated going to Stewby's initually but wanted to try the new place out. We will go to Stewby's instead next time.

I loved this place. Go and ask for Phillip. He was incredible and kept us laughing. I ordered grilled shrimp and my husband ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi. They were both excellent choices. Phillip also suggested the shrimp rangoons, which I was skeptical about but they were creamy, spicy, and sweet all at the same time. I would go back just for those! We sat outside beside the water and it was the perfect ambiance for our date.

If you are on a tight budget, this is not the place to be! You save up for this dining experience folks! The food is Amazing and the portions are plentiful! The atmosphere is great and the place is very eclectic. You will enjoy it if you go there...get yourself a Bourbon(Makers or Woodford) and Ginger with a lime, sit back and soak it all in! The stuffed mushrooms are amazing and the Steamed Platter is out of this world if you like seafood! The CRAB CAKES...DROP THE MIC!!!

We are owners in this area. We have tried multiple times over many years to come to this restaurant for a meal. We have been met with closing earlier than posted, need a reservation when not busy and just poor service. So last night we went back after more than a one year break. So sad and disappointed that they cannot seem to get it together. The wait staff is young and focused but there is only so much that they can do. I asked specicically for a fresh bottle of wine...came out old and oxidized. The wait staff immediately apologized. I feel that she has been there before. Our entrees were good, but not great. I am so sorry and disappointed for this restaurant as they have the opportunity to be great if they wish. Love the setting and the ambience, just really miss this mark for the food. I exoect that we will not be back and we will advise our renters as such.Thank You for dining with us. Iâm glad our staff immediately apologized for your wine and while young, used her experience to take care of your needs. We are pleased to be a restaurant that still takes and honors reservations, and as such often appears empty while tables are awaiting those guests. Feel free to contact me personally if you would like. Tom

When we vacation in Fort Walton Beach, we always go to the Shrimp Basket and are never disappointed. I usually get the popcorn shrimp basket and it is a BIG portion. We even ended up taking some home this time. Their cole slaw is delicious as well and even has little shrimp in it--very different. I've also had the coconut shrimp and that is very good too. We had an excellent waitress and the manager stopped by our table to check on us. We'll be back!We appreciate your positive feedback about your experience. We take pride in serving our customers and hope to see you again soon!

This RL is located on the Intercostal Waterway which gives a gorgeous view of vessels, water, sea birds and isolated beach on the far side with no views of condos or other evidence of a tourist destination. Only a few wooden power poles spoil the view. A park is next door within walking distance. The décor inside is consistent with RL everywhere. Even on an overcast winter day we could enjoy the "beachy feeling".The Cheddar Bay biscuits were hot & curbed our appetites until the salads arrived. Our oversized lobster platters were bountiful with the selected entrees and sides. The main lobster tails were sweet, juicy and tender. The rock lobster tails were chewy as usual. Both needed seafood forks to remove the bites of lobster still in the ends of the tails! I hated to waste one morsel. The sirloin was tender and prepared as requested. The lobster & shrimp Linguini Alfredo was creamy and full of seafood. The baked lobster pieces in a butter sauce were excellent.Sides of mashed potatoes & the Caesar salads were good except a small rotten lettuce leaf piece. Cole slaw was OK. The roasted green beans were a disappointment with no seasoning or natural green bean flavor.I ordered hot tea and was given chamomile which typically makes it easy to fall asleep. I was surprised and asked for a different one. The selection is meager at best (no Earl Grey, a very popular selection). All were caffeine free except the Irish breakfast which is not my favorite due to its strong bitterness, but I needed a jolt after the chamomile! Next time I'll bring my own teabags or order coffee. My spouse had ice tea with no complaints. The spoon accompanied by the hot tea was caked with food the dish washer missed; unappetizing, though I'm sure sterile. I asked for a replacement and real sugar. The server brought the sugar right away, but took so long for the spoon I stirred the tea with my fork! Other than this the service was very good.

We enjoyed Bay Café. It is an excellent alternative to the other restaurants in the areas which primarily offer seafood. The food was very good, the service was pleasant and the waterside seating at sunset really made our dinner memorable. As a businessman myself I cannot help from doing a mental cost analysis on the restaurants that we visit. When I compare similarly priced restaurants it is interesting to see where the management has chosen to compromise in the three primary expenses (real estate, employees & food cost). Typically, I expect to get two of the three. For example, Iâve noted that many of the more popular Destin/FWB eateries provide good service with splendid views, but the food is mediocre on their best day. This restaurant IMO delivers on all three... so how can they stay open? The variable they bend is customer cost-expect your check to be a little higher here-but I believe you will conclude that you get what you pay for at Bay Cafe.

This was our second time here and definitely the last. I hoped to give them another try with different results but after 2x's, I'm not impressed once again... DONE. Both times, the staff has acted sassy/rude and really not very considerate of paying guests. To top it off, they want to charge you extra for more chips for the crab dip when there already wasn't enough in relation to the amount of dip you receive. Then, to charge .50cents for "strawberry butter" for hushpuppies is tacky considering you order a $30 steak which was tough and not impressive. Fish special was overcooked...just really not impressed with sub-par food plus charging extra for every little item. I never mind paying extra when it makes sense but this just seemed petty as much as we spent on our meal. To finish on a positive note, the fried shrimp was the only relatively good item out of four dinners.

We had lunch here based on TA reviews. Was not disappointed! Parking was easy, and several seats when we got inside (but I would guess it'll be packed at peak times). Service was friendly. This is one of those places you order at the counter and they call your number when it's ready. We had a couple orders of fish tacos (awesome!) and kids meals. We also tried the baked beans (very good) and french fries. Prices were very good for the good portion size and food quality. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

The food was great as was our waiter. For some reason the food just took forever to come out. Once we got it it was great, just took a long time. They werenât that busy, so not sure why.Thank you for the high rating! It's wonderful to know you had an excellent time with us. We appreciate your feedback on timing, we do make everything fresh and to order however we apologize if it seemed to take too long during your visit. We will definitely review what happened here and make adjustments.to ensure the BEST possible experience. We hope you'll be back our way soon. All the best, Chris and Tyler, Co-Owners
