It is not in the waterfront but hidden between the shops in the inner streets of downtown Queenstown. The seafood chowder is marvelous and the chef knows his job for sure.Atmosphere is quite romantic, though the smell of fish and seafood is sensed - as should be - in a real sea food place. Certainly highly recommended for dining.

We wanted to give m y elderly parents a dining experience that they had not done for a while (20 years!!!) and The Boat Shed turned out to be the perfect place to take them. We sat inside but on the seaward side of the restaurant, which was great for dad as he loves the ocean and could see the ships coming and going. The food was excellent and the staff attentive. Will definitely be back.

Great food from land and sea â come on in and enjoy our seaside restaurant and bar right on the wharf at Mapua. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, come in and enjoy some great food and service with million dollar views in paradise. Enjoy the beautiful
We came here for a birthday lunch and despite being winter, the orientation of the outside deck meant sun and shelter from wind so we sat outside. The food was delicious and each dish exactly as described on the menu. The mixed platters (jellyfish board) were perfect to share amongst a group and there was local food such as smoked fish and gourmet sausages. Gluten free friend had her own platter which was done to the standard a coeliac person could safely eat it. Portions were generous and menu catered for a range of appetites and ages. We had very prompt and friendly service. Highly recommend to locals and visitors alike.

I have to admit to having low expectations: this is a âsmall town placeâ, many tourists pass through. Itâs on the main drag...Letâs be honest, its likely to be high quantity, good value, poor service and mediocre quality. But WOW! Was I wrong, or was I wrong?! This restaurant is exceptional. And Iâm not just saying that: Iâve eaten (as you will see if you can be bothered reading my other reviews) in some of the best restaurants in Europe and Australasia. Yup. This was good. Very good. Service was attentive but not too much. Menu was short & sweet. Wine was local and good value. And BOY-OH! Were the fresh, local mussels served fresh and creatively seasoned! You bet!The coconut, coriander, chilli and lime were absolutely the BEST mussels Iâve ever tasted. (And Iâve tasted a few)!Definitely highly recommended. And do book, especially in summertime if you want a romantic and relaxed table in the quaint courtyard area. Yup quintessential NZ at its best. Donât miss out!

Excellent food, recommend the lemon sole and the pot au chocolat, be aware that both are very rich. We had their âlocalsâ menu which is their prix fixe where you can get slightly smaller portions on the main, which is okay because portion sizes are generous. For us, service was a little slow but very pleasant, that may just be us still adjusting to a different pace of life,
