When cycling through the beautiful countryside of the Kempen (which straddles the Dutch/Flemish border area) it is always enjoyable to find or refind an excellent place for lunch. The Blauwe Kei is located near a canal junction east of Lommel. It is easy to reach on the cycle network. The food is freshly prepared and not expensive. There is a large terrace at the back on the south side of the cafe. Great when the sun shines in October.
Collegiale groeten .

My wife and I must have eaten at this restaurant dozens of times. In the summer you can eat outside under shady trees. In the winter the inside space is friendly and not too posh. The food is not meant to be gourmet style but it is well cooked and well presented. The service is generally fast and always courteous. I have tried most items on the standard menu and they have all been wholesome. There are also specials and seasonal menus such as asparagus and game. The kitchen is open more or less all day and every day. We live not too far away so if we cannot be bothered to cook we head for Den Brugwachter. The prices are reasonable and the quality is good. There is no need to reserve tables unless you are arriving with a big group.

Breakfast was from 8am to 10am and on our first morning there we asked for a 730am breakfast as we were there to compete in a sporting event and they reluctantly agreed. We asked for the same on the second day and they point blankly refused. She I went down at 745am the next morning there were a number of guests just finishing their breakfast. The lady serving the breakfast on the two mornings was not only abrupt but rude. We had dinner there on both nights and the food was ok but the service was dreadful. The rooms were clean and spacious but absolutely no sound proofing so if you are a light sleeper this is not the hotel for you. Will definitely not be returning here again. There was a breakfast ready for you (6 persons) on Sunday morning at 7.30 am, just the same what you asked on Saturday morning. It was a staff member who said that is was not possible for an early breakfast. She works at our place just for a few weeks. We are sorry for the troubles.

Maybe a stereo type thought but we I expected a better experience for a restaurant mentioned in the Michelin guide. I had foie gras as a starter the taste was fine but so poorly deveined ( if at all ) that it broke my appetite. Main course was a basic piece of beef some unexciting veg.and a tasteless sauce. This could have been fantastic. This was enough reason not to have a dessert. Service however very friendly and the surroundings comfortable. Dear, thank you for your review. It is strange that you have eaten here in August and now three months later reviewing. Are you sure you have eaten in our restaurant? We not remember unfortunately your visit, eaven we don't have a lot of Spanish guests here.

Every time we visit it is like a home coming. The staff is super friendly and even remembered our usual table. The chef greeted us like old friends and the food was as good, if not better, then we remembered. Their menu is great value and full of flavors and authentic tastes. Their wines, even the ones by the glass, are superb and the staff will help you pick the right one for your dish. Mi Media Naranja is one of my all time favorites....And thatâs without mentioning their epic crema catalana which is the best I tasted outside of Spain. Hmm I mentioned their crema catalana again didnât I Well come and visit and I promise you wonât be disappointed. super

My wife's meal was cold. My so called ' Pat thai' could only be called the slops. The whole service was disconnected. The restaurant was too noisy for a conversation. The waiter twice demanded a service charge. He had to be told three times why he wasn't getting one.Dear sir, madamI think you revieved the wrong restaurant. We have no male waiters working with us and in Belgium there is no service charge!Best regards,

Seating outside is very nice. Service was friendly and quick.Menu offers the standard belgian bistro choices, nothing special on the menuThe food itself was priced rather high for the quality we got.Steak was tasteless an also not seasoned properly, sauce was rather greasyVery small side saladWines were rather low quality also. The red housewine was served way to warm and lacking flavor and depth..Also the white wine is not really recommended.Overall, nice scenery in summer, but very standard food at high prices.I was Not at all impressed

We visited this bustling little restaurant on the last day of our holiday with family friends. There were 11 of us and the staff were extremely helpful in accommodating our large group when we hadnât made a reservation. The food, drink and atmosphere are fabulous and I couldnât recommend the Diana restaurant enough. Given the owners were going on vacation the next day the menu was still good and the food quality was both tremendous and plentiful. We hope to holiday in the area soon and without question we will be returning. Thank you so much to the staff for a fantastic finale to our vacation!
