Things to do in Lithonia
I remember great portions, terrific staff and good experience. I am assuming management changes and economics have negatively influenced this eatery. Last ate here in July and displeased with portions and the person working the counter claimed to be 18 year employee and size hadn't changed. We opted to give one more chance, believing we may have faulty memories. Wrong, portions even less than our last visit. Very disappointing. Through the years staff has become less friendly and more distant. More into their own world than customer service. On plus side, food still tastes good
Skinny Chef Cafe is a Hidden Gem in the heart of downtown Lithonia...
Ate there today for the first time and will definitely go back. The food is prepared as each person orders. The portions are large and it all tastes good. Prices are good also. Daily specials are $6.50 each. You are offered a complimentary glass of wine while waiting for your food to cook. Great service!

I seen a friend of mine post food on her Instagram page from here and immediately said when I make it to Georgia I will visit. It was amazing and more. Great hospitality as usual in this state. Food was great, signature drinks, and the fried cheesecake was delicious. The atmosphere was well needed. I returned back the next day.
Our parents decided to change from the traditional turkey for Thanksgiving, to a fried one. It was a huge mistake. The pink customer ticket for pickup read "fried", however, the cash register receipt read cajun. That is two different foods, as cajun is spicy. A call was made two days before the holiday, and Floyd assured us that the pink ticket would assure the correct item when we arrived. Oops, red flag. When we arrived at 9:30 am and waited for our purchased item. We received...yep -- a spicy cajun turkey. We were told to have a seat and wait for Floyd Gilkes*. He was there but did not help us. (*This will be important later). We were given a card and told to call the corporate office in Fayetteville, GA on the Monday after the holiday. We can't eat a card! We called back to try to salvage the ThisIsIt catastrophy, and received no response. So the hunt was on for a replacement turkey, which could not be found a few hours prior to Thanksiving dinner. So, in addition to the $60 for no turkey, we paid $39.00 for chicken at a local drive thru. For a total of $99, without sides. 40 minutes before were planning to sit down for our meal, a lady manager called to see of she could help and she brought a turkey to us. She said we could seek a refund, which we did. However, after 5 calls to Floyd Gilkes (Dir of Operations) and Nina Johnson, and a written request for the promised refund, this sad little saga has run its course. We did not get the promised refund for the additional chicken purchased through no fault of our own. The extra money paid, because of their dishonest business practices is a big lesson, along with all of the bad reviews at their other locations, reinforces the bad way that this business is run. Fair warning. DO NOT spend your money at any ThisIsIt restaurant. You're welcome.
We stopped Andy's on the suggestion of golf partners nearby...they're nowhere near where we live. I can safely say I've never seen a place like it. They are basically a seafood market that also prepares what they sell. They have no seating..it's all takeout...but it sure looks good.We didn't buy any prepared foods, but we bought some shrimp and catfish to prepare at home. It was fresh as can be and the prices were great comparatively. They're very quick, efficient and nice.We asked what was fresh and what came in frozen...we tried to avoid frozen, but there's no reason it wouldn't be ok. You won't find unfrozen scallops often in this area. We'll go back this week and try some of the prepared foods, described as "New Orleans" style. Judging by the steady stream of take-out customers, I imagine we'll be pleased. They do a lot of catering...we won't be using that service, but many do.It's not really on the way to anything, but the area is not that far from the beaten path. I'd say it would be worth a trip if you're out and around and hungry for fish.

We were driving around looking for Firehouse Subs when we passed This Is It. I had heard of it for years, and we decided to try it. I am shocked at the other bad reviews I just read, as we were SO impressed! Everyone behind the counter was extra friendly, helping to explain some of the dishes and what was good. My husband and I shared rib tips, mac and cheese, cornbread and brunswick stew. The rib tips were tender and the sauce was perfect. Mac and cheese like you would eat at your grandmother's house. And the stew? Literally the best I've ever had, and I LOVE brunswick stew. We bought a quart to take home and had it for dinner that night. We were in the area for an event, and it isn't somewhere I can pop in anytime, we don't live close. But I would definitely go back, we loved it! Only negative I could possible come up with is it was a little pricey.Hey there! We appreciate you leaving your review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed your experience! We look forward to seeing you again for your next meal!
