We had a light supper at Vriendschap on a cold dark night. We ordered shrimp bisque and a Tom Ka with bean sprouts and other veggies in it. Both soups were delicious. My bottle of Zeeland apple juice was so unusually delicious that my wife had to order a bottle for herself. The lust for new flavors got the better of us, and we ordered some shrimp kroket which were also delicious. The wait staff were helpful and polite, and food arrived reasonably promptly. One delightfully charming staff member chatted with us when we found out she was from Indonesia. Vriendschap was the most memorable restaurant that we visited in Middelburg, and we recommend it very highly for atmosphere, friendliness, taste, and value.Hello dear Staidthere,Thank you so much for your nice review. It makes us shine! We hope to see you again,Kind regards and all the best,Connie

Strandpavillion in den Dünen von Vlissingen direkt am Meer mit Blick auf viele Schiffe
Piet Heyn is on the beach and we know it very well as we go regularly to Vlissingen/Koudekerke for one or two days. The first stop is for a nice coffee with sea view and in the evening a simple dish (fish, good meat, salad etc) with sometimes a marvellous sunset. Good service, friendly people, nice furniture. You got a real holiday feeling when you go to Piet Heyn.

At Restaurant Basalt we serve what comes from the ocean that morning. With seasonal products we create beautiful dishes. We mainly serve fish dishes but also for meat lovers there is always a fine choice as well. With 38 seats we are a warm and cosy resta
We chose this restaurant as we found the menu quite interesting. I had a seabass as it s one of my favourites.. The fish arrived to my table looking really ok on the plate but when I touched it with that fork and knife delicately, its consistency was a bit strange ( gummy like) then I opened the fish and... red blood burst out of it. I, of course, called the waitress and said the fish is undercooked, she then disappeared for a few mins, then came back saying :" this fish has to be like this because otherwise it will be too dry" A WHAT??! A joke to say the least!! I think. Well, I didn't order sushi and I want my fish COOKED as it should be and do not want to see any blood or eat it semi raw. I sent it back to the kitchen, they cooked it a bit longer. The fish then came back to my table cooked and then it was as it should be. My friend ordered a tuna steak which we could actually say it was rather a mini - tuna steak as the portion was really small. The vegetables were ok as well as the wine and the service but ... that bloody fish incident was rather disconcerting and the silly excuses of the waitress that the seabags has to be semi raw - quite amusing .. Overall experience - disappointing and quite ridiculous.Never ever said that we serve the seaBASS raw ofcourse we donât. I said that it was not raw and if we steam it some more it could be a bit dry (the fish litteraly fell of its bone already) red blood bursting out of the seaBASS come on. You are welcome to write a bad review but at least be honest.

Not perfect but still wonderful! We had a very nice evening at this gourmet restaurant. The service was nice, the lady tried real hard to explain things in english and to make our dinner as perfect as possible.I love the ambiance. And I adore the dessert. Ok, Im pretty impressed for the things we got and the money we spent on it.The location isnt as center as I expected but still acceptable as its still withing walking distance from the towncenter.

The restaurant is located in the historic building at the edge of the old town of Middelburg. Inside: a cozy Dutch interior and fireworks of culinary masterpieces. We had a sea inspired festival of dishes concluded with the lemon and lime desert. Every bit of dish was composed from a delightful combination of tastes and visual experiences. My favourite was a sashimi inspired raw fish in the green cloud with crunchy finish of quinoa. Stylish service and home like ambience. A diamond on the firmament of European cuisine. In my opinion at least.....

Restaurant is located nicely on Nollestrand beach boulevard. Views are great and service is good however food was a big letdown for me. Ordered lamb chop, the cut was thick and dry and chewy. I almost left halfway so wasnt impressed with the food.

Ons restaurant ligt in het bruisende hart van de Middelburgse binnenstad en behoort tot een select gezelschap van rijksmonumenten. Wij werken met uiterst verse producten die veelal van biologische afkomst zijn. Wij brengen u mooie verrassende gerechten me
Exploring Middelburg we decided to follow TA recommendations and try the Gespleten Arent. We were not disappointed. We arrived about 10 min before their official opening time (6:00pm) but were welcomed inside anyway. We started with a cava/ginger beer aperitif (I was sold at "ginger beer") along with several amuses. We decided on the 3 course menu salomon/beef/lychee. We also asked if, instead of the full wine arrangement, we could have half glasses of the appropriate wine with the first & second courses - again no problem. The food was great. Interesting twists on the base ingredient of each course - tasty, very well made and presented while not pretentious. Portion size appropriate for fine dining.Service was attentive, friendly but unobtrusive. Professional. All in all a memorable meal for 2 for EUR 55 pp incl drinks and a tip.Good value we thought. We'll be back.

Scandinavian styled small restaurant situated at the foot of the dunes. Friendly service. We ate outside on the terrace well protected from the wind. Inside small but stylish. Restaurant is attached to some holiday homes.
