We are from south La and have eaten our share of Cajun po-boys. I read about Rougaroux on al.com and since were going to be in Bham, we planned a visit. Itâs a true NOLA style small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant with excellent po-boys. The four adults in our group (3 originally from La) were all more than pleased with the food. We would all definitely return to Rougarouxâs. Two of us had crawfish po-boys and two had oyster po-boys. The seafood on each po-boy was generous and cooked to perfection and the bread was true NOLA crusty French bread.Itâs a rustic, crowded venue with limited inside seating and a few outside tables, much like you would find in south La. You place your order and pay at the bar as you walk in and hopefully can find a table. It was packed when we arrived and diners kept coming and lining up outside the door to place their orders. Prices were reasonable. Oh, did I say that the po-boys were excellent! The po-boys were excellent! We had a very young fellow with us who said it was the worst restaurant he had ever been to and that he would not come back. His comment had nothing to do with the food. The rougaroux statue in the menâs room scared him! For those who donât know, a rougaroux is essentially a Cajun werewolf. Google it and enjoy your meal even more knowing the background on the name.

Oceanâs ambiance is superb, service fantastic, location ideal, wine list impressive. my adult daughter, who was raised in oyster producing community, said: â..Oceanâs oyster bienvile was the best oyster she has ever eatenâ. halibut is usually prepared with consistency like steak; Oceanâs was soft & flaky, like a knife cutting through butter.
Enjoyed my first visit to this Captain D's location. Ordered a 3-piece fish dinner and had to wait at least 15 minutes for my order because the place was really busy. Server brought our drinks while we were waiting for our food. Fish was cooked just right and my sides of fried okra and mac 'n' cheese were, too. Tried their cheesecake bites for dessert and discovered that the small serving of 4 is really enough for 2 people - rich but delicious.

Great spot in a great area, had the Waygu hamburger that was at the top of my list of all time favorite burgers. Big burger and great flavors, substitute the fries for brussel sprouts and glad I did.

Every time we have been to the restaurant the parking lot was completely running over. However we got very lucky this time, someone was backing out as we drove in, so we were able to get a parking spot. YEA!! James was our waiter and he did a fantastic job. We were extremely pleased with our food and the portions were HUGE. Make sure you have a big appetite.
