I made a reservation in advance and showed up 20 minutes earlier. Seats were available so I could take a counter seat immediately. Everything I took was tasty i.e. Baked Oysters, small sardine Tempura, Fried Oysters and steamed rice. Sake from Kure called Ugonotuki(meaning moon after the rain) was also good. US$22 I paid was quite reasonable. Among 4 restaurants I went this time, this restaurant is the only one where the price paid justified the content given.

We walked passed the restaurant and the pretty food pictures outside grabbed our attention. Totally loved the shoes-off thing as it is very Japanese! The staff were extremely friendly and spoke a bit of English. And the okonomiyaki we ordered was SO GOOD!!! - the menu did not disappoint! There are also many locals who also eat there - this shows that the restaurant is good! Totally recommend it!! Will surely come again!

Motoyasu River flows beside Peace Park. Kakifune Kanawa, where you can enjoy the seafood on the riverbank, is said to be a representative of Hiroshima's food culture. In 2015, Kakifune was reopened with 2 stores with different concepts on each floor. We o
You would rarely see oysters prepared in so many different ways - raw (sprinkled with whisky!), roasted, deep fried, shabu shabu, stewed, with cheese, au gratin, over rice, en gelée, fermented, etc. The oysters are sweet, extremely fresh. Some dishes are not so successful but they sure are creative. Idyllic location by the riverside; it's too bad the ambience is spoiled by some cheapMuzak. Friendly but extremely forgetful waitresses. Pricey but not outrageous for the quality.

This is the main store, which opened in 1967, and "is a restaurant that is dedicated to local Hiroshima cuisine". Not exactly cheap, but rather reasonably priced, and you should make reservations, else you will wait close to 45 minutes for a table during dinner time (they will record your name and ask you to return at a certain time). Had this grilled oyster set for dinner - comes with a breaded oyster, one grilled with cheese, and one with a pesto sauce. The dish that I really liked was this rice with shrimp and comes steamed in a stone hot bowl.

Fantastic sushi and an English menu. However we struggled to convey some meaning to staff (probably our problem more than theirs!). They were slow with drinks (had to ask for water 3 times). They gave us hand warmers on the way out, which was a lovely sentiment.Thank you for choosing our shop and dining. Please come back again when you come to hirishima.

Unpretentious and delicious food, friendly staff, good sake and fair prices for the quality on offer. Sea Urchin over sizzling spinach, and pan fried oysters were the highlights. This is a simple, casual walk-in place, donât go dressing up, just turn up hungry and enjoy!

We had many issues over past week hunting down restaurants after finding them on TA. All have anglo-saxon names but none follow that through with similar signage outside the premises. Thus place was different. It's on a corner, first floor. Purple signs. Inside there is a vench for 10 perskns plys two private rooms. Menu for lunch is limited offering 7, 9 or more piece set meals. This includes rice, miso soup, pickles and x/y/z pieces of the best tempura batter you will ever experience. So light. So delicate. 7 piece lunch was 900 Yen. Bargain.

Closed on Thursdays. English menu/English speaking staff available. Cash only. Map of trip advisor is wrong. Please show our address to the taxi driver, not the map.
Believe the excellent review percentage - this is somewhere you really should visit if you like the freshest seafood and want something to remember. English isn't a problem at all. Two tips from us: you can get there on the 12 bus from Hacchobori and the Spicy Rice is spicy indeed. We're not going to be able to return as our Japan visit is in the "once in a lifetime" category and we're leaving the city tomorrow, so all I can do is recommend them to you if you fancy something different, authentic, special and a little bit adventurous.
