As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 5,005, reflecting a decline of 92 (-1.8%) from the 5,097 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 248 (+5.1%) from the 4,849 counted in the 1990 Census. It is the home town of film maker, director, and comic book writer Kevin Smith. The eastern part of the town is built on a high bluff that overlooks Sandy Hook and the Atlantic Ocean, from which the borough derives its name. Atop this bluff are the Navesink Twin Lights.

We came here with friends over the weekend. It is the perfect summer place to go for food, drinks and beautiful views. The restaurant has great views from both inside and out. The staff is very friendly, the menu is varied and the prices are reasonable. To top if off, the food was delicious! I had the baked grouper and my husband had the tuna tacos and they were both excellent! The wine pours are very generous as well. This is a great place to come and we will definitely come back.They also have live music on the deck as well. A great place to come along the water. You won't be disappointed.

Tried the Navesink Fishery after finding on tripadvisor. The restaurant only takes reservations of 6 or more. The restaurant is in the shopping center where the old A&P was on Route 36 in the Atlantic HIghlands. Went there on a Saturday night around 6:30. Waited about 30 minutes to sit in the dining area. The place has a nice seafood market in the front of the restaurant, for pick up and take out orders. The place is bring your own and there are some tables in the front you can sit and have a drink while you are waiting for your table. Our server Maggie was very nice and offered some recommendations. We started of trying the chowders. I tried the New England Clam Chowder and my Pal had the Crab and Corn Chowder. The Corn and Crab was very good but the New England was not. It was lacking clam, clam flavor, vegetables, salt, it just tasted like base and some thyme. I nervously waited for the fried oysters to come out but they were very good, fresh, and with a nice wasabi sauce. We then very much enjoyed the blackened halibut and the grouper francaise with crab meat. Both were fresh, cooked perfectly and very nicely flavored. Would of liked a little more spice, heat, with the halibut but still was very pleased.. We will definitely be back and give the New England Chowder another shot but again it was a very nice meal and evening.

Stumbled on this place and werenât disappointed...very busy on a Saturday at 5 pm...standing room only. Lucked into 2 bar seats when a regular offered to move over for us. Can tell the burgers are to die for...they must have served 30 in the short hour we were thereâs. Fried zucchini isis unique and ready. Nice bartenders.

The deck and outside bar were beautiful. Every staff member was friendly and welcoming. The outside band this night was a little into themselves and appeared amateur kind of ruined the vibe. Very busy reservations suggested. Nice outdoor seating area to relax if you are lucky enough to find one. The server had help two assistants I believe and was a little off. Wife had the salmon and truffle potatoes and loved it. I had the Lobster Roll and wasnât to keen on it. Was mushy and fishy. Would like to try it again but the menu is limited in my opinion.

Casual dining located right on highway, noise was so loud it was hard to have a conversation. Had a very difficult time eating outside, with all the yellow jackets attacking our food. Been to many other places and they don't have this issue at all. Crispy Scallops were not crispy and raw inside, mozzarella sticks were so overdone, we couldn't eat them. Three entrees of fried flounder (hugh portions) and one Burrata over arugula, which was good for the two forks bites I had before the bees started to land in my salad. Didn't eat the raw scallops or salad, told the waitress about everything, she apologized. Plenty of other places to eat outside with quality food, just keep on driving.

Humble surroundings, tight parking, live music, and great eats. The list of my favorite dishes included everything we ordered. Party of six shared the Mussels, the button Clams, the Tuna Poke, and the Sashimi. Canât decide which one I liked more. The entrees included grilled Blue Fin Tuna, Seafood Fra Diablo, Mahi Mahi Tacos, and Wahoo. Menu changes throughout the summer. Everything was fresh the way seafood should be. And donât leave without a slice of the creamy homemade key-lime pie. Itâs BYOB. Just a great night, good value, lots of fun.

I don't know how the outdoor bar area or dining room was. This review is for the indoor restaurant bar. My friends and I really enjoyed our time. We arrived at Bahrs Landing Seafood restaurant on a Friday evening for a couple happy hour drinks and $1 oysters and we ended up staying well past happy hour. Our bartender was quite attentive and friendly despite catering to a bar full of patrons. The oysters were fresh and meaty. They were probably the biggest oysters i ever had. They were worth every dollar. For dinner we had escargot and fried clams.The escargot was so good and garlicy that we ordered a second. They didn't skimp on the fried clams. Not only did they give us a lot of clams they were larger than we'd ever had before and well battered/fried. They were not oily or greasy.We couldn't stop talking about how much we enjoyed our time at Bahrs.

Most waterfront restaurants are like restaurants on the top of buildings, they live off their view. Here the view, especially from the outdoor seats, is wonderful, and the crowd is generally lively, especially around the bar. The food is also pretty good. We started offs with the Bing Bang Shrimp, a shameless copy of Bonefish Grillâs staple with a similar name. Two at our table had been the lobster roll. It was nice, but not inspired. I had a blackened Mahi special which was quite good. The fourth had a salad, and I got no reaction. If it matters to you, the fries are of the thick variety, not a favorite of mine. Drinks, beer selection and service were all good.

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment yesterday for our anniversary. We were greeted immediately upon entering the property. The decor was inviting and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. We shared both the mussels and Caesar salad for appetizers. The mussels were superb with a broth that we just couldnât get enough of. The Caesar salad and was crisp and tasty. We both had the fruitti del mare for our entree. The seafood was perfectly cooked, which included scallops, jumbo shrimp,mussels and clams. The pasta in the dish was of a perfect amount. We finished the meal with cappochino and shared a chocolate mousse torte, which was delicious. We are planning to return as soon as we can to sample some of the other offerings on their menu!

My wife and I have now eaten here several times. The room is certainly stylish, and the menu eclectic, but the food needs some work. We tarted with an IPA, and it was not to my taste. Not hoppy enough. We also started with a mezzo plate with hummus, smoked eggplant dip, pickled vegetables, olives and flatbread. The components were fine, but the presentation was stylish but very awkward to eat. The olives and pickled vegetables were piled on top of the two dips so that you had to push them out of the way to get at the dips. Pushing them off of the hummus pushed them onto the eggplant dip and vice verse. Very awkward. I had the tempura vegetables. The coating on the vegetables was thin and not adhered to the vegetables so it fell off when you went to eat the. The Yakatori (?) sauce accompanying them was very thin and did not have much flavor. My wife had the mussels and frites and declared them âfineâ. Nuff said, she loves mussels.
