We chose this restaurant based on reviews and we were not disappointed. I ordered the table d'hote. Very reasonably priced. I can't say the first course was my favorite, it lacked flavour and the squash was a tad overdone, but the idea was amazing. The second course was roasted wild boar. Too delicious to finish, but made excellent leftovers. I have has wild boar before and this did not disappoint. It was served frenched with the sweetest demi cooked heritage carrots. For dessert I had their creme brulee. Bravo. It is my favorite dessert and I do a very good one and this one is competitive. The service was excellent. English was offered, but we wanted to practice our French and they are quite considerate allowing us to. Thank you for a great meal.Thank you for taking the time to write this great comment ! We are glad you enjoyed !Simon P., owner

This bistro is a participant of the "Route gourmande de la Gaspésie (Gaspésie)" Attached to the bistro is a gallery of local artists.
Enjoyed dinner at this local restaurant. It was a bit small, but the food was nicely representative of local fare with much fresh seafood, local sausages, etc. The server did not have good English, but we communicated quite well during our visit. The building's history and upstairs art museum are also quite interesting.

Decided to dine here upon recommendation of a local and was very disappointed. First of all let me state that it isn't about the ambiance. I don't really mind if I'm jammed in with an eclectic mix of furniture and not one water glass on the table matching if the food and service was good! All entrees ordered were bland with very little flavour. I had the coquille fruit de mer. The supposedly cheddar base lacked much cheese with very little seafood. Pepper could have given it something. It was topped with mashed not even creamed potatoes. Blah... Perhaps a little garlic or herbs could have added some flavour. My side salad had one dressing. Hope you like it. No dinner roll was even served with my $19.95 meal. Although, those they did serve some were packaged. Home cooked meals should serve fresh rolls. Also, noted from reviews home cooked desserts! Really??? The service wasn't good either we sat, got one glass of water and then served. Upon dessert if you didn't get it with your meal table d haut it was noted that you paid. Hello, yes! For some reason I tipped , however shouldn't have. Of all my dining out lately Baleinier rates very low. Again, just my kindness giving it a 3/5!
This is a concession in the national park, the kind of place that in the US would serve chips and hotdogs - but here uses local high quality ingredients. My brie, pecan, apple sandwich was shockingly good for food from a concession stand. Ah, Canada.
