We are a family from Sweden that really enjoyed the evening at this restaurante. The food and wine was good and service was excellent. And the local people was polite and nice. We will come back. Thank you!

On a lovely Sunday drive, and turn north and you could end up on Fehmarn Island, just off the coast of Germany. Quaint little town called Orth, with a little gem of a restaurant. Recently renovated and given a menu overhaul. We were a family group of five, hungry and left extremely satisfied. It serves mainly fish dishes in whatever style you like. No fuss, very fresh food and well worth the price listed. Quaint decor and friendly staff were an added extra. Its out of the way but well worth the trip.

Zum Haifisch (in English At the sign of the Shark), is well-situated on the sunny side of the main street (Breite-Strasse) in the busy township of Burg in Fehmarn, an island close to the coast of Schleswig-Holstein, an hour or so from Hamburg and Lübeck by fast motorway.Choose to sit outside if the weather is good. Tables are protected from the sun or the occasional shower by large but unobtrusive sunshades. Our service was quick and friendly - one lady speaks excellent English - but do try your German, and ask about the dishes, some of which you may not know; the names of fish are not always easy to recognise.Fish dishes are a speciality, but the menu is very large and many other dishes are served. In the springtime, you can try the very-well prepared white asparagus, cooked the German way and served with a creamy hollandaise sauce and small new potatoes. With my asparagus, I chose the Mai-Schollen, two lightly pan-fried flat fish from the local catch which are a real delicacy at this time of year. Sometimes they are offered cooked with miniscule cubes of smoked bacon - a very delicate flavour - and often in the Husumer Art with tiny shrimps. Any of these will satisfy your curiosity. I paid 19 Euros for the combined dish of Scholle with white asparagus, sauce hollandaise and new potatoes. A glass of dry white wine or Weiss-Wein Schorle ( spritzer ) will always be a good choice. If you have room and a good appetite, a separate dessert menu offers a wide choice. This is a popular place on the main street of the town, so you could choose to stay at one of the small but comfortable local hotels and eat here in the evening. Lunch times are long, and stretch well into the mid-afternoon, so do take your time.

We had lunch with friends and had a selection of smoked eel and some pickled herring, etc. They have a great selection of smoked items, salads, etc. ready to eat or take out. The outdoor tables were the best place to eat. Have a good beer and enjoy!

A really nice restaurant, exterior and interior romantic and pleasing to the eye. Friendly and competent service. Pouring of soup at table; two waiters in synchronicity. High class delicious meal, appetizer, starter, main course and dessert (first three courses very tasty, creme brulee texture a tiny bit off). And wonderful German white and red wine. And reasonable price for a close to perfect meal. Highly recommended.
