Things to do in El Jadida
I had wanted to come here for some time, but it's so far away from town that I had to wait for my friend with a motorbike to take me. In the teeth of a bitingly cold wind, we did the long trip down from El Jadida on a rather poor road before turning off to the main road the hotel and restaurant are situated in. We met the manager by chance at the gate of the property and he quickly said that my friend should put his bike inside the walls where it would be watched over. He then showed us around the whole place. The dining facilities are certainly vast and impressive and are located in more than one area and on more than one level. There's a Moroccan-type restaurant area under a permanent tented structure as well as the main building which has a large covered patio, an inside restaurant, a cafe space and an upstairs roof terrace with a fabulous view. Indeed, the view from where we ate, the patio, was impressive enough! We were brought some nibbles and shown the menu. This is my only criticism. For such a lavish place, the menu seems to be derived from a snack restaurant menu - emince de poulet/viande, pizzas, fried fish platter, grilled fish, quarter rotisserie chickens and so on but at a higher price than in town in the snack places. We had been told by the manager that the establishment was the equivalent of a four star accommodation, so I would have expected something more of a stab at a fine dining menu. I saw some leaflets for events that they held, however and it looks as if the food might be better at these. I ordered an entrecote and I knew that my friend would order the fried fish platter. We shared a mixed salad to start. The salad was fine, nothing to rave about. The fried fish was probably as good or better than could be had in a fish snack because it incorporated a couple of types of fish that would not be served there as well as the normal sole, prawns, calamari and whiting. My entrecote dish was good and there was the addition of some gratin potatoes with it as well as some nicely done vegetables. That was a welcome change from chips! The surroundings really are to die for and I can forgive them the slight disappointment about the menu. Nonetheless, the food was well cooked and presented. During the look round the premises, the manager said that they have arrangements with some of the local farms to ensure that their food is organic and that they don't get supplies from town at all. That's a praiseworthy initiative and an incentive for the reams of healthy eaters who visit Morocco nowadays. We took a coffee on the roof terrace. There is traffic noise to a certain degree from the road, but it is truly peaceful and the view even over the road is so beautiful. The grounds are laid out and maintained lovingly too. There is no alcohol licence and there will never be one as the premises have a mosque right inside the grounds. Even bringing one's own bottle to the restaurant would not be possible. We would come back to eat and also perhaps to make a day of it in the grounds with a group of friends when the nicer and warmer weather comes. We enjoyed our food here

I'd been past here several times and saw loads of people sitting inside and out. I wondered what on earth was going on as it is normally completely empty.I stopped by today and had a chat with the owner and a quick coffee. The coffee was relevant! They have completely changed their ideas. Having a posh restaurant in a street full of snack-type places simply hadn't worked, so they thought again. What they have come up with is a cafe in the same lovely, well-furnished surroundings with TV screens to show football matches and special programmes. They have also removed the fussy foliage from the front patio which was appropriate for a restaurant but would have been a no-no for a cafe. It's all looking much smarter and is attracting clientele. I'm glad for them as this place has had a lot of money invested in it. It's a nice place now for a coffee and croissants or a breakfast. My coffee was fine and I do recommend it rather than any of the other cafes on the same street. There's a good welcome and the staff are friendly and efficient. I hadn't been back for a meal, but I think I'll be back for coffee.

Had a great meal here. Sea bass done just right. My son had one of the few meat dishes on the menu and claimed it was good as well. We enjoyed a nice wine from Meknes. Only thing......we were the only people eating there and that made it a little dreary. There were a rowdy few in the bar area which livened things up a bit!

This new posh snack has only been open for 3 months or so. In that time, it has gained loads of customers, including me.I went there last week with a friend to have a meal. We sat upstairs where it was less crowded but even here started filling up after a while. Everything is obviously virtually brand new and it looks tasteful and is comfortable. The food is the basic posh fish snack offerings with it's own twist, of course. We shared a nice "salade niçoise" between us as a starter. Side dishes were also presented which were some house-made sauces and some olives. My friend then had the mixed fish platter, which he could hardly finish. I can't eat gluten, so I had a grilled dorado with vegetables. Unfortunately, they had mixed in some spaghetti with the veg so I had to send it back but they replaced the offending portion immediately without a quibble. Again, I could hardly finish it even though I can't eat bread as a filler! The fish was cooked perfectly and was very large. I had a large bottle of Oulmès and my friend 2 cans of bitter lemon. The bill was 165 dirhams between us. The restaurant is right by the port and just down from the Portuguese City. It's ideal for a simple lunch or even a dinner if one does not wish to have alcohol with the meal. Even though it was busy, the service was good. I recommend this establishment to visitors.

Cheap and cheerful, fresh and well cooked. I can't say much more. You can get a huge plate of a variety of fish, with calamares and prawns on the plate too, for two people for less than a fiver along with bread and a dipping sauce. It's fried in a thin batter and it's well done, not greasy. The fish is fresh and the premises, while humble, are clean. The types of fish change according to what has been landed the day before but there is usually sole on the plate and nearly always the squid rings and prawns. Additional types might be shark, conger eel, "sabre" I don't know what it is in English) or "rouget". There are other offerings on the menu too, but I think the mixed fish plater is the best deal. It's a bit hard to find, so try looking at the map of town and orient yourself before setting out using the address above. Once you're near, you'll see the sign for the place pointing down the little side road the restaurant is situated on. Well worth a try for those on a budget wanting somewhere safe to eat or for those who want to just have a nice, cheap meal.

Located on the property of Mazagan Beach Resort, Buddha-Bar Beach is a chill place to grab a cocktail, lunch or have some shisha! We went on Monday and it was a really great vibe with a DJ playing afternoon music and quite a few people. Tuesday the dining portion was closed and there was no music. Service was a bit slow, but we were in no rush and just sat back and enjoyed the view of the ocean!

Located inside Mazagan Beach Resort outside of El Jadida, Sel De Mer is an excellent seafood restaurant. Open Tues, Thurs, Fri and Saturday evenings. We dined early, as we had our 2 year old with us, thus we were the first in the dining room. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered pasta from the kids menu and they got it out quick so that we could tend to little man. The pasta was delicious! From the main menu, we ordered a starter salad based on recommendation from the server. It was a work of art and one of the best items we tasted in our 2 weeks in Morocco. Served on a bed of thinly shaved octopus, it was amazing! For mains we had the sea bass with lobster ravioli and the turbot with mashed potatoes. Both dishes were fantastic - and the mashed potatoes surprisingly had seafood mixed in, a surprisingly delicious treat. We finished with sorbet. It was a surprisingly fantastic meal - way better than the buffet we tried at the resort the night prior!
Top 10 Pizza food in El Jadida, Doukkala-Abda Region, Morocco
The restaurant is situated in a hard to reach area of light industry, offices and warehouses with some residential units. It is the oddest place I can imagine to plonk a fusion Asian restaurant down into. I was apprehensive, but we thought we'd give it a go anyway. I mean we just couldn't imagine who on Earth would take the trouble to come out here to eat. It's miles from where any tourist would be, for a start. The place was empty but we got a warm welcome. It's quite plush. Menus were on the tables, so we set to ordering. I had a salmon salad as a starter and my friend the fish soup. Both dishes were fine. For the main, I had the chucked with caramelised pineapple and my companion a chicken noodle dish. Again, they were fine. There's a downside though. They are not using sticky rice. It's such a stupid corner to cut. During the meal we found out how they stay in business. There must have been ten phone orders for either delivery or pick up. A rich-looking Moroccan family sat down to eat just as we were leaving. I'd recommend here just for a change of scenery. And a change of cuisine. The meal was not too dear at 260 dirhams. That also included a portion of tempura prawns, which were actually very nice. I might even go back one day.

We went to this restaurant with 5 people and were served very delicious food: a variety of extremely fresh salads and delicious fried seafood. They also have meat and pasta on their menu. The place is simple and there are many families who come to eat. In a nutshell: If you're looking for great food, get to this place. Plus, they offer it at a very affordable rate.
