We recently spent 15 days in CR and this restaurant was an oasis in a desert of generally overpriced and overcomplicated food. The food was delicious, inexpensive and simple. It has breathtaking views, clean kitchens and friendly service. If you are ever passing - we were on route from San Isidro to Manuel Antonio - make an effort to eat here - personally I would go out of my way to re-visit. They served the best quesadillas we had all holiday and prices were reminiscent of a bygone eraThoroughly recommended. This was the highlight of our holiday; well... apart from Scarlet macaws, Resplendent quetzals, stunningly beautiful countryside, climate, monkeys, rivers, mountains, sloths, oceans, beaches, tropical plants, the people, the sunshine...etc..etc.

Went here one night for 2 tke out dinners and the fish, salad, rice, beans and vegatables could not have been better.Next time we stopped by because out front they have a sign that said Casada Grande for 3000 colonies.I thought gee, this is a great deal.I order 3 and when it was time to pay the bill the price was 4950 colonies.Ok, not a real big deal, however when I said I had enough for 3 based on the sign by the road the manager or owner gets upset abd starts running around showing me the menu, then a table top menu and then looks like she is about to start making phone calls... uh?It was the principal of the whole thing and then they tell me the sign out front is old.Well, maybe they should update it.Needless to say we came to a solution with me paying more than I wanted to but less than what they said was the real price.Unfortunately, they also lost a future customer... never again.I don't like people who attempt to take advantage of others, it is just wrong. Thus an average rating, food good but guest service the pits.

We have been there 3 or 4 times. All the times the food and service was decent, nothing espectacular, but we liked mostly because of the location. The first time we were served by an adult guy, who looked and act like the owner. He acted very nice, but at the end, when we got the bill, we just received a handwritten paper with the total amount. We mentally calculated and it seemed wrong, so we went to the cashier and ask for the details. On other handwritten bill (the one that the server/owner writes himself and give to the cashier) it was written down some items that we didn't order at all. We clarified the misunderstanding (which sometimes can happen, you know), and the owner dissapeared, not apologies, but that's fine, it was 50% chance that it was a mistake. So we decided to go back a 2nd time, asking again for the bill at the end, little "mistakes" again, like changing the prices from the menu. The third and LAST time we were also charged like 4 times for the drink that only 1 person ordered. Every drink had added extra colones on the price (more than showed in the menu). The cashier (a mature lady who didn't act very nicely) quickly calculated the new total and gave us the total, but we calculated ourselves and the total was wrong again, of course over charging. This time we definetely left with the feeling of being ripped off. I hate dishonest people, and no matter if you food or service is good, if you are trying to rip your customers off, that is NOT CORRECT. Also, not giving proper invoices is illegal. I didn't mind that the food was overall, or even if the server didn't check on us. What really matter for me is the HONESTY, for locals, for tourists, just be fair and honest on your bussiness and you will have success. Otherwise, keep stealing from your customers who TRUST YOU, when you give them the total amount handwritten. Every dollar or colon you are stealing from your customers, actually you are stealing to yourself. And this is for all, for the owner (s), cashier and servers, because they were all involved on these dodgy/tricky transactions during all the 3 times we went there. Hoping you get honest, starting paying your taxes, giving receipts to your customers, so they can check that everything is correct, and RESPECT THE BUSSINESS. For people like you, the customers start to be distrustful. Ps. I can see that this restaurant also have very bad reviews from last year regarding the same issue (overcharging), and I'm not surprised.Buenas Noches! Gracias por su opinión! We visited Tortilla Flats on our second day. I literally fell in love with the atmosphere, the view, and the PASSION FRUIT BASIL MARGARITA. I am not a fruity or sweet drink person, but this was amazing! So amazing I returned nearly daily for another, haha. We tried a couple of the appetizers and one lunch while there as well and really liked the food. We prefer to sit at the bar and banter with the friendly bartenders. The seats are also higher for a better view of Dominical Beach. There are local vendors set up close by and tourists passing. It's a great place for people watching and just relaxing for a bit.

The guide who arranged the tour booked this accommodation. The view from the cabin/veranda was lovely but that and the restaurant are this location's strength. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked. The sliding glass door to enter was stuck and required two pairs of hand to shut. It needed to be locked either from the inside or outside to stay shut. The wifi in the cabin was sketchy. There was a coffee maker but no mugs or coffee or condiments. The t.v. didn't work. The bathroom was sorely in need of a coat of paint. The bathroom sink drain pipe had a hole so that when draining the sink, water splashed all into the vanity cabinet. Seems like no one is interested in making repairs.Very disappointing for such an idyllic setting.
