Italian Traditional dish
Without any reservation on Saturday evening we were shown to a nice table. After a few minutes we got some appetizers and the service in general has been very attentive and helpful. The starters were very good and also quality of our pizze. As a suprise we were offered a digestiv and enjoyed our stay in the restaurant.

Great restaurant with delicious and fresh seafood dishes in the heart of Goriska Brda in Slovenia. Make sure to book your table in advance (the terrace has great views of the vineyards). They have fresh seafood platters and different fish every day.
The hotel and casino have a very nice à la carte restaurant, quite unexpectedly. Top class service, very nice food, great Slovenian wine. The somewhat oldfashioned atmosphere is something I like (so do not expect anything trendy here). I spent a very pleasant evening here. My bill amounted to a mere 35 EUR, including half a bottle of truly magnificent Slovenian wine. Yes, this is a place to return to.

Locanda 101 is a restaurant with a small number of rooms at the address mentioned above. It is not listed in the usual guides, but is simply the best fish restaurant I have ever eaten (and this I do very frequently). Tel. no is +39-0481-512112
The Trattoria 101 is a place we never miss to visit when we are in Gorizia. It is in a small courtyard off the Corso Italia. To put it just in on sentence: This is the best restaurant for fish and seafood I have ever eaten! The restaurant is small with a little terrace in front of it, so reservation is highly recommended particularly on weekends. Don't expect kitsch, but changing exhibitions of artists very often with a link to Venice. Francesco and his wife run the place, extremely friendly and efficient. But you came for the food. My recommendation would be just to follow Francesco's recommendations. He makes wonderful hot and cold starters, his fish salad or the mousse is a dream. And he has - not always - a fish soup which comes so close to the ideal of a Mediterrenean fish soup as one can get. I herewith swear: I never had a better one in my life. This could be followed by a "primo", such as the excellent pasta allo scorfano, the spaghetti nero di seppia or the seafood risotto. As far as the "secondi" I will always remember the delicate tuna with red peppers plain and simple from the grill, but it is also here wise just to follow Francesco's recommendations. Needless to say that the fish is always of best quality and prepared with love for the product. You should definitely not leave before having tasted one of the desserts. The bavarese, the panna cotta or the gianduiotto are classics of this restaurant. The wine list is not very long and offers mostly the very good white wines of Friuli.Next door to the Trattoria (and owned and run by the same family) is the Locanda with a small number of nice rooms.

a bit out of the way, but would be worth going any distance - though you need to be a fish & seafood lover to appreciate Le Dune. No, it isn't cheap - but the owner and chef somehow combines the freshest ingredients in a concerto furioso of tastes; gamberi rossi from Sardinia and scampi from Istria; raw of course; then a cubed (raw again!) dover sole, a Branzino soup, a carpaccio of Ricciola (Yellowtail) followed by thick slices of the best tuna sashimi I've had for years; then scampi from Istria, lightly grilled on a bed of warm Zucchini, spaghetti with ricci ... there was more, 9 or 10 courses altogether, one better than the other. superb, just superb.

The tables are very elegantly settled with tablecloths and decoration. A nice surprise!

At the foot of the Castle, the restaurant La Tavernetta offers a highly-selected cuisine of exquisitely meat and fish dishes. The hundred places in the restaurant are distributed in three rooms.
My husband and I were staying nearby at the Russiz Superiore vineyard B&B, so we decided to try this restaurant. The ambience is wonderful with a wood burning fireplace and beautiful stone walls in a very unique building. We were offered a little proseco as we first sat down and then were brought some proscuitto of deer dressed with berries and a little salad. It was a nice touch. We ordered a bottle of Lis Neris Cabernet Sauvignon (2010), but were brought a 2011 which we did not catch until after it was served as we were not shown the bottle. My biggest complaint is that they used the same type of wine glasses as they did for the proseco and it took away from the enjoyment of the wine. We noticed other diners had the right red wine glasses for their wine, so we know it was not that they did not know which glasses to use. Other than that, the meal was outstanding. We started with the pumpkin ravioli served with shaved tartufo which were delicious. I had the duck which was sliced thinly and served with what I think was lightly sauted apricots and a baked cauliflower dish that was wonderful. My husband had the rack of lamb which absolutely melted in your mouth. The chef is excellent and knows just how to pair the flavors. The wait staff was friendly, yet did not check on us at any time during the meal. Other than not having what was a lovely red wine in the right glasses, the meal was truly outstanding.

In the heart of Collio, the restaurant is located in a building dating from 1700, with typical Cormonese architectonical structure. It has a delightful terrace-garden. The cuisine is inspired by Central European cooking and of high quality. Wide wine choi
We were a party of six, and we tried a couple of different dishes. For the starter we took prosciutto San Daniele and tonno battuto. Both delicious. Then we took orzotto and blecks with San Daniele & funghi porcini. Blecks were fantastic, much more favorable than orzotto. The best dish of the dinner in my opinion. As main we took ravioli and veal. The filling in the raviloi was tasteful a bit too dry. If it was for my taste, I would never grill ravioli, because grilled pasta becomes bitter. The deserts were good, the strawberry tiramisu better than the almond cannoli. All over, a tasteful dinner with a fantastic white Jermann.
