The town was first settled in the 19th century by gold and mineral prospectors, and has become a popular Summer tourist destination thanks to its scenic wilderness location and proximity to the world-class salmon fishery of the Kenai River and Russian River. As of the 2010 census, the population in Cooper Landing was 289.

Arrived in Cooper Landing and my obligatory first stop is Gwinâs for late lunch and a couple beers. Reindeer sandwich was quite good, halibut fish tacos slightly less so.Beers were cold and quick to arrive.Met a few interesting folks, which always seems to happen.There are other good choices for a meal in Cooper Landing, but I would never fail to drop in here when I visit.Such great history.Everything has been going great this year and great menu items and new to-go Snack Shack. Drop in and try some Pizza and Subs when you see it open next to the main restaurant. There is an area to eat on both sides of it now. The inner area will be a beer garden we are working on getting approved. The fishing has been great this year. Thanks, Keith

This was on my list to stop for dinner. So glad we did! Surprising menu. Everything tasted great. Beer and wine only. Located right on the river.
