Decided to celebrate our birthday at Santabbondio. the place is just amazing and really exceptional. Both inside and outside the atmosphere is just sublime. The food is very creative, well presented and of great taste. The waiter was also fantastic, very knowledgeable and of great help with his advice. A memorable place to go and eat. We went there three times, and never have been disappointed. But you need to book especially on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. We took japanese ravioli, chinese ravioli, small sushi plate (12x), mixed tempura (3 shrimps and some vegetables), 8x rolls, fried melanzane stuffed with meat, a bottle of chardonnay, 2 espressos: 70 Euros totally, which is fair since the quality of food was good.The staff is really friendly and available for explanations on food, and at the end a small glass of limoncello or liquor is offered.The big advantage compared to othe Japanese in Lavena Ponte Tresa is that it is centrally located, 100m from the Swiss border.Try it, you will not be disappointed.

This is probably the best option for italian food in the whole region. Fish and seafood always fresh and tasty! Pizza is delicious and wood-fired. If you like pasta, try the pignata which is a terracotta pot with spaghetti and seafood in cherry tomatoes, garlic and herbs, covered with pizza bread and baked in the oven. Once served, the bread is cut open. They manage to prepare this even well 'al dente'! The salads are abundant and varied. Service is very friendly and prompt! Even the view over Lake Lugano is perfect - if you get a window table. In the summertime you can sit on the terrace on top of the building. Make sure you book your table under +39 0332/550311. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is located on the lake side, and has both indoor and outdoor seating. We visited in August 2014, and was sat in the outdoor area, which has umbrellas which helps to keep the heat or rain off. The food was adequate, however the Swiss haven't stopped smoking in restaurants yet and it appeared that there wasn't any non-smoking places to sit. Therefore expect other diners to light up their cigarettes at adjacent tables when they finish their meals, which can spoil your enjoyment of your food if you don't like the smell of the smoke.

I didn't know what to expect, having heard both bad and good about this restaurant. The sushi was very good, I really enjoyed it. However, the service was slow and the waiters were never smiling.

Dinner for 17 people, excellent dishes, very friendly, helpful and dedicated staff. We started off with some delicious pappardelle ai funghi porcini (noodles with porcini mushroom) and trofie al pesto. After that, most of us ate beef filet with pepper sauce. As a dessert we had a fresh made mille-feuille with cream, strawberries and forest fruits... never had better! I can only recommend this place to anyone, who truly loves Italian cuisine!

The quality of the fresh fish and the beautiful presentation make this Japanese restaurant a wonderful place to eat. We were very pleasantly surprised by the innovative take on some old favourites. Charming service, but not overly effusive; clean and cool atmosphere; great food. Now our favourite of the (many) ethnic restaurants in Ponte Tresa.

This place really wowed me... It just has been reopened wth bigger facilities, new menu and more rooms in the hotel. I recently spent a week over the New Year. Staying in the villa next to this restaurant. Although we had a number of different places during our stay this was by far the most superior. Had the pleasure of spending New Year's Eve and was made so welcome by the staff.
