Seafood
We were warmly welcomed by owners Mary and Jim and crew. They quickly had a drink in our hands in the cozy lounge. The seafood is so fresh, Jim had just filleted the cod for my dinner - Pan roasted cod and scallops. We dined in their beautifully renovated ice house. Definitely a memorable experience on our Scotland adventure. By the time we left to walk to our B&B, we felt like family!

Arrived to find restaurant fairly full, so had a table outside, thought it must be good as it was busy. How wrong can you be !! We ordered Chicken & Chips & Whole tail scampi & chips with mushy peas. Could'nt believe the chips when the meals arrived. Not a single whole chip that you could eat. I went through to complain about the state of them, they looked like the scrapings from the bottom of the fryer. The waitress said she would get us another bowl of chips. They arrived and were no better, just scraps. The meals were dear enough if they had been good, so we complained when we went to pay. The bill was over £30 , for the 2 meals & 2 x orange & lemonade drinks & charged for the extra bowl of chips !! We eventually paid just over £20, which was still far too much. We noticed other diners had the same rubbish chips. Will never be back there again

Peet's is by the harbour, at the seafood end of the village - where the boats come in!! Lochinver lies in the heart of the spectacular coastal scenery of the North West Highlands, on the North Coast 500 route. Please call to make a reservation. Whatever y
What a difference a day makes! We dined at Peet's twice during our stay in Lochinver. The first night was very good. My fish platter was lightly cooked and very tasty. The following night it was a very different story. The calamari were over-battered, as was the fish platter. Instead of being light and tasty, it was thick with batter and stodgy. I guess they must have had the reserve chef on that night. Shame.

Service OK at best, not an very original place, menu consists of the typical deep fried fish you get often in this area. Lot's of mayonaise, lot's of oil, not so muc taste.

Award winning Pie Shop,Restaurant and Coffee Shop
Always pop in here on my regular trips up the majestic west coast and it never disappoints. There's both savoury and sweet pies packed to the rafters with all sorts of creative combinations and I'm pleased to say I've done the lot! Pie heaven lies here...it's a long old drive from pretty much anywhere but worth every second with some of the most stunning landscapes you'll witness anywhere on this planet IMHO around every single corner.

We were driving along NC500 and decided to stop for lunch. Taking the off the beaten path track we arrived at the ferry dock to Hanna island. What a wonderful view! We had the smoke salmon and prawns which were delicious..Lunch was a wee expensive but with the sunny day and atmosphere it was worth it...The Shorehouse is a must visit!

The Whale Tale is a wee cosy Restaurant on the west coast of Scotland surrounded by ocean, lochs and mountains, situated in the middle of NC500 route.
My wife and I chanced upon the Whale Tale by complete chance whilst staying at the Scourie campsite (which is excellent). Weâve traveled a lot and eaten at many fine restaurants with famous chefs and impressive reputations. Without doubt the food at the Whale Tale is quite simply sensational. If youâve eaten at the Witchery in Edinburgh or the Three Chimneys in Skye then expect a similar taste sensation here. For starters We had a superb Cullen Skink with the right balance of smokiness of the fish and creaminess and delicacy of the soup needed, with the other other starter a lemon soul ceviche which was as fresh as it was zesty. Mains were perfectly delicate sea bream and a punchy, melt in the mouth venison main. The couple who run this hidden gem hail from the Czech Republic have created a relaxed, inviting atmosphere and deserve all the success and accolades that will doubtless come. At the moment they donât have a license which means itâs BYOB, however thatâs no big deal as the food is the star here. Whether youâre doing the Nc500 or are in the area, you simply have to go here. Weâre planning our return already
