After a remarkable concert at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre seeing the Toronto All-Star Big Band, we headed to this restaurant for an early Sunday dinner. We were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant and a coat rack was brought over to hang our heavy winter coats. The restaurant is quite large, well-lit and features booths and tables. Our female server was very attentive during our stay and eager to make sure our dining experience was top rate. We started with a large Greek salad that we shared with the five of us. A container of creamy dressing was on the side. The lettuce was crisp and was topped with sliced black olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and slivers of onion. A nice healthy start to the meal. We had all ordered the Sunday specially priced Haddock and Chips for $8.99. We were just finishing our salad when our entrees arrived. I had asked for a light batter on my fish and it came as ordered. I must say that the batter on the other diners' fish was a nice ratio of fish to golden batter. All meals were served piping hot. Along with the generous serving of fish and chips the plate held a small dish of coleslaw in a vinegar dressing. Top marks for dinner. My overall impression of the restaurant was one of cleanliness, especially the washrooms. I was pleased to try this restaurant on the recommendation of my friends. Great value and pleasant staff. The strip mall offers plenty of parking and there is handicap parking in front of the restaurant.

We visited on a Saturday night during Taste of Burlington. The meal overall was really good. Our starter was the least favourite, the butternut squash ravioli, it was fried and we weren't expecting that. The menu stated fried sage, so I thought they fried the sage for flavour but the actual ravioli was fried. I probably would not order that again. For our mains my husband ordered the rack of lamb and totally loved it. My son had the prime rib, it was a very large portion, he enjoyed it and I ordered the rainbow trout. My meal was just ok. Each of the mains had vegetables and potatoes, so a good size meal. The dessert was great both my husband and son had the cheesecake and I had the creme brulee which was delicious. The setting of this restaurant is so beautiful, looking out onto the lake. Our server was very good. Overall it was a great dinner in a lovely venue.

Visited this branch for birthday dinner. The place was packed which is normal for red lobster. The servers were very slow and dirty dishes left on our table way too long. The shrip salad was not fresh and the main course plate display was shabby looking. It was hard to even locate our waitress so we asked another server why the long wait for food and she basically said everyone has to wait. She had no smile no personality or any apologetic emotions to her for the long wait. Not sure what is going on at this branch but it needs a overhaul or re training. The waitress stood over our shoulder when we were paying in a intimidating stance. She didnt look very happy. Never visit this branch again.Hi, Copland66. Richly appointed fine dining establishment CAA/ AAA four diamind rated catering to individual diners and group functions.
We went here because a friend said it was nice. We found that the physical part was just that but the menu lacked soooo much. It was very limited and prices were way too high. The cost was not worth the experience.Thank you very much for dining with us.Iâm very sorry you found menu with 45 dishes plus specials limited. Our entreeâs prices start from mid-twenties, so Iâm little confused by your review.Iâm glad you liked the decor.

My wife and I enjoy a good steakhouse once and a while but left The Lord Nelson unimpressed and disappointed that for a such high price tag we were delivered an experience that wanted for so much. Right off the bat, I complained about something I've never done before â I sent back my menu. It was crusty with bits of food stuck to the plastic page protector and the paper was greasy. As a 22 year Food and Beverage veteran (chef) I notice these kinds of details. The menu's replacement landed moments later without apology and service was flat from then on in. My wife and I locked eyes and considered another restaurant, but I was craving Oysters Rockerfeller for days and this is the only restaurant around that serves them ($28/6). They were fantastic. The squid was not â slimy and under cooked with mushy breading. I was not about to continue complaining as I now felt like a pest and swallowed the squid with a wince. I asked for bread to mop up the delicious butter/hollandaise/oyster liquor goodness and was delivered bread that was cold and staling, akin to the overall experience. We shared a steak (very good), mashed potatoes (lumpy and luke warm), onion rings (from a GFS box and extremely salty), 2 glasses of wine and a cocktail. Total damage with tip, about $220. I advise bringing your dollar to Barberians or Jacobs and Co. Downtown Toronto, as here you will find only an amateur and lackluster experience typical of most archaic Burlington and Oakville restaurants serving a thinning and aging customer base.

went for lunch with a large group. We were easily seated, but restaurant was busy. Ordered the spicy tuna and salmon roll, ingredients were very fresh and sushi chef knew what he was doing. Others in group were also impressed with quality of sushi. Family owned establishment, service was excellent. Prices for lunch were very reasonable. Very clean. In a large mall at corner of dundas and walkers, lots of parking. will return

I have been to dozens of different sushi places in and around Toronto over the past four decades, some being so-so, others much better. This restaurant in midwest Burlington rates among the finest of the art of sushi in my experience. It is in an unassuming multi-business mini-mall tucked away where you canât see it from the road, just its name on the signage that caught our eye when we were scouting a quick and healthy spot to eat. We are now so glad we chose here.It wasnât very busy but, then again, it was after the typical lunch crunch (1-ish). Once we ordered and were served, we were the only people left. It appears to be a 2-person operation, and the lovely hostess/server was very friendly. The chef was always very serious and barely acknowledged us. Then again, he was concentrating on deftly slicing the seafood without making âcut finger sushiâ.My wife ordered their sushi assortment (12 pieces) on a rectangular plate. I ordered the Chirashi Sashimi. Both plates were magnificent to behold, only made better by sampling the exquisitely tender and fresh fare. I am providing photos to show his magic. We were served the typical small bowl of miso soup to start (very nice, too...not too salty). Unlike some other places, our meals did not include a small salad, but we were well sated nonetheless. The decor is minimalist, having very simple tables and chairs, with the seating capacity at tables being roughly 20. There were many more seats around the sushi bar itself where you can see the samurai of seafood in action. The washrooms were also rather spartan but clean, just as you would expect. Theyâve been open for three years, but should have a long ride in this competitive business with performance like this. Highly recommended. If you want a fancier-looking place for a special function, there are many more options, even in the suburbs. But if you just want sushi prepared perfectly for a casual nosh, this is the place for you.

Although the menu has other options clearly the reason people come to Thistle is for the fish and chips. Portions are certainly generous (even though the plates are on the small side which leaves the fish hanging over the sides) though there is easily enough to eat. The fish is also not over-battered which cuts down on the calories. It was a busy place with tables turning over frequently and easy to see why it is popular.Although there was no chance of having room for it their dessert tray looked to be exceedingly over-indulgent for those who have a sweet tooth. When the crave arises for fish and chips then it definitely a place to return to.

Have been to this restaurant many years ago and it is still around. This time 6 of us went to celebrate a 50th Wedding Anniversary. It is a small restaurant in a strip mall. It seemed everyone there was celebrating a birthday or anniversary. It was busy. Dinners on the menu run around $50 to $60. Portions are huge and include salad or soup plus potatoes and vegetables. Service was very good. Very attentive. This restaurant is one where the service staff wear Black suits and the tables have white tablecloths. Steaks are delicious and cooked to your liking! Tends to be an older crowd that goes there for dinner.

My brother in law took my husband here for a late lunch and hubby liked it so much we went the following week. I love this place. Great staff, the atmosphere is wonderful and the oysters and sauces were out of this world ! Although we stopped by just for a snack that time, we're definitely going back for dinner !
