Things to do in Brunswick
The food and the bread are SO good. We like grilled shrimp the it was not on the menu. I asked our server if we could get shrimp grilled and she said no problem. It was not exactly a heart healthy meal because the shrimp were cooked with quite a bit of butter, but it was the best grilled shrimp we've ever had. We highly recomment this restaurant to everyone.
Jay's Seafood is located at the corner of Gloucester St. and Albany St. in historic Brunswick next to the firehouse. When you walk in you may think about walking back out, their dining room is sparsely decorated and there are no tablecloths, but come hungry and you will be happy. They will take your order at the counter and bring it to you, although they are so accommodating that if you were to just take a seat they'd likely bring you a menu and take your order at the table. Their specialty is fried seafood with sides, and they do great things with it. No wine or beer, this is like a neighborhood diner except no booths. They don't take credit cards, so bring cash. The small menu offers the basic seafood choices- fish (two or three kinds), shrimp, oysters and scallops, as well fried blue crabs (in the shell) and a few things non seafood. You can get a half order with 2 sides or a full order with two sides; the portions are huge and I can only eat a half order, but I have seen people who could finish a full order. The sides include french fries, greens, baked beans, garlic corn and more of what you'd expect to see, but the star of the show is the seafood. I often get the fried shrimp, a half order might contain a dozen nice sized shrimp, lightly breaded and perfectly fried. They are consistently done to perfection, that is where this place really shines. The prices are low, the food is good and the portions are big, maybe that is why they run out of things, oysters and scallops seem to run out first. The people who run it are some of the friendliest people you'd want to meet (Mr. Green owned restaurants in Chicago before retiring to Brunswick), and it doesn't take many visits for them to start remembering your face. I see a lot of people picking up orders to go, in fact, they serve all their food in styrofoam to-go boxes (room for improvement there, paper plates would be nicer), but this is food that needs to be eaten hot- wash it down with a sweet iced tea and watch the Spanish moss sway in the oaks across the street and enjoy having found your corner of fried seafood Heaven.
Wonderful experience to eat alone but at a table with 3 delightful ladies. Service was quick and knowledgeable. I ordered a light snack and was delighted with the warm crab dip and very tasty soft pretzel chunks. The menu is very interesting with all items explained nicely. Good selection of cocktails. I really enjoyed the variety of foods and will return often. Thank you!

Having been to a Michael's Deli is another town, I was a bit skeptical about Michael's in Brunswick. But the visit turned out to be satisfying. The menu is a strength with salads, wraps, burgers, sandwiches, and seafood items. I ordered a fish and shrimp plate with cole slaw and green beans as sides. Hush puppies were also served. The fish was pollock and was cooked perfectly, flaky and moist. The shrimp were fresh and cooked perfectly as well. The slaw was good, although the beans were a bit overcooked (which is how many Southerners like them). The hush puppies were also good. I was very pleased with my meal and with the service and prices. I will most likely return to Michael's to sample other menu items.

New restaurant (formerly on Jekyll Island, GA) Clean, very good food and very good value.
Clean and pleasant atmosphere and menu offers options to please everyone but the server was so unpleasant from the moment she approached our table, we all were scratching our heads... fish was a little dry and overdone but we didn't say anything. Our waitress clearly didn't care...

Located on US US 17, Jinrights has been a favorite of locals for decades. Specializing in locally caught shrimp and fish, food is always fresh and cooked to order. Lunch is the time to go, specials are under $10. Get the whole flounder if you order from the menu, you will not go away hungry. My favorite is always the shrimp, grits and cole slaw.

Sometimes it seems to be more greasy than others but all in all the food is usually great! The service is always great!

I really like Marshside grill and they are always busy! So there has to be great food getting kicked out right? I normally get the hen fingers and spuds and I am never disappointed with them. But I ventured out and got the Filet mignon hibachi because people have said it was good. Well it was decent. The steak was very good but the pieces were huge and required me to cut them in half to eat. The rice had little flavor and claim to be fried rice but is didnt have any vegetables or onions in it. Plus the soy sauce I added to it to moisten it up was extremely salty (even though I was told it was low sodium). The zucchini and onions were very good. The meal came with the yum-yum sauce (or white sauce) and it tasted good except on my 10th dip or so a huge hair came out of it. The bill was discounted but that was enough to make me not want anymore. I think I'll stick to the hen fingers from now on. Never gone wrong with them!

Went based on TA review and was not disappointed. Fried buffalo eggs and garlic eggs are actually boiled eggs that have been re-engineered. Absolutely fabulous. Fried fish dinner good as was garlic shrimp. Good hushpuppies too. Place decorated in a funky style and wait staff was courteous and friendly. Would return if in the area. Too full for desserts.Dear JCB556, thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that you loved your experience; our staff will definitely be happy to read what you wrote.
