Food and service were okay but not more than that. Service was polite. The restaurant was very crowded during peak hours which made it noisy and not too cozy.Okay for one visit but would most probably not come back.

This quiet little restaurant on the Istrian waterfront, in the first majorAdriatic inlet below Piran and Umag, you will find this wonderful seafood house. Here we had the house favorite just called "Shells" and a fresh roasted fish. A tasty melange of all the local shellfish, simply called "Shells" and beautifully served; we also had very fresh fish caught moments before and cooked immediately. Is there anything better? Both lightly seasoned to not overwhelm the delicious seafood. Close to the beach, we ate dinner enjoying the sunset ,moderate summer temperature, wonderful service and plenty of locals on the lovely outdoor terrace. Not an American in sight. Price was right.. great value.. good local wine, freshest fish.. excellent bread and local oil.It was midsummer and walking around Novigrad, both before and after dinner, the streets were decorated with colorful umbrellas and other artistic finds, keeping the sun and heat off you, and every restaurant had a giant umbrella to keep you in the shade. A picturesque town worth the side trip.

Back yet again! We wouldnât feel our time in Istria would be complete without visiting our favourite restaurant. The food remains consistently excellent and if you fancy something different the chef is happy to prepare something just for you. The San Benedetto is always busy, a sign of how good it is so itâs best to book to avoid disappointment! See you all again soon, thank you Goran and team!

A pleasant new discovery (for me) in the once dead, now quite lively town of Brtonigla. On the hill, straight in the centre and right by the church. Parking easy close by. Relatively large summer terrace set up in the square, interior by an old fireplace far smaller, dark, yet cozy. Quite well kept restrooms. As the name konoba says, this is an Istrian equivalent of a countryside pub. A small one. Do not expect luxury. You can also forget about a wine list. Staff basically knows what brands of malvasia and refosco by Istrian producers they have on stock, one can obviously not expect a sommelier. Or some sparkling wine offered by the glass. Prices per bottle very reasonable. They offer traditional continental Istrian food (there is no menu so that you would know what exactly), but they have recently made their name through very fresh seafood. They say it was caught the night before, and it is not difficult to believe. The chef (a nice middleaged lady, occasionally also taking orders and preparing the bill) has the traditional skills of making the best of fresh fish and crustaceans. No innovation or improvisation, you know exacly what you will get. And it is good. Excellent risottos. 11 on my 1-20 scale. There are now many interesting restaurants in Western Istria, at least three in Brtonigla. If you are into fish and no-nonsense approach, while not being happy about the restaurant owner join you by the table when you are heartily enjoying fish (competitor), this is the ideal place. Very acceptable prices for fresh fish. Advice: ask the chef for her daily recommendation. Will be back.

I ordered mussels while my friend ate mixed shells and it was excellent. The portions are really enough. The ambience is quiet and pleasant and it is definitely good place to chill and it's not far from main road. Thanks again for all and we hope to come back definitely!

We visit this place for late lunch. When we entered the place was full, but they find us a small free table. Staff is very polite and friendly. The food was nice, specially home made pasta and we also like seafood salad and small stuffed chili with anchovy. They definitely can improve open red wine.

Astarea is family owned restaurant, specialized for fish and meat.Owner is taking the orders and his wife is preparing dish at the grill.Very pleasent restaurant with great atmosphere, it was full (there was several tables with friends and others with couples). We decided to try the fish, so we have taken for a starter, mixed plate with little bit of everything (octopus salat, bakalar pate, anchovies). It was very tasty. After this we has âriba ispod pekeâ and the main dish was really great (little bit of salt was missing, but this is easy to repair). We have taken also salat and we were drinking home wine. All in all, great dinner for 210hrk per person. When you count all things we have eaten, i would say that there was good ratio between price and service.

Iâm a regular guest at La Bohéme and I must say that this is the best restaurant/bistro/pizzeria in central Umag. All of their dishes are prepared with care, with quality ingredients and beautiful presentations. Their staff is also very friendly and professional at top levels. This place is good for lunch or dinner, but also for a morning coffee. Prices are moderate, considering its location. In the summertime period, reservations are almost obligatory because this place is full, especially in the evening. This place is a must try if you visit Umag. It wonât disappoint. Dear mrako84,Thank you for leaving such a good review of our restaurant. We are very glad to have a loyal customer like you and that is why we try every day be a little bit better.See you in Bistro. With love Bistro-Bar La Boheme stuff
