About ten years ago, catering to changing Italian tastes, most of the Chinese restaurants around Milan converted to Japanese food. Understandable, because the Chinese cuisine they offered was frighteningly reminiscent of the stuff served in the States or the UK 30 years ago, before Szechuan, Hunan or Dim Sum: the same 6 dishes, the same 2 sauces, everything tailored to Western taste(?) like Chop Suey, Almond Chicken, Sweet and Sour deep-fried something, incredibly overcooked vegetables. The places offering decent Chinese food were/are few and far-between, no wonder that the Italian public rebelled. Now, Sushi restaurants and "Fusion" restaurants can be found everywhere, although the combination of raw fish and Chinese restaurant hygiene is not always the most reassuring. However, many are OK, I've got a strong stomach and love Japanese food anyway. Many of the converted restaurants are basically still Chinese under a thin Japanese veneer. One example: if you order "Gyoza" you get Chinese pork dumplings...Oishi Sushi is Chinese owned, but there is a level of care that I haven't found yet in the other Japanese restaurants in the Hinterland: many more authentic dishes (machi balls!) udon, soba, etc. The fresh ingredients are high-quality, and both the sushi and the kitchen chefs are excellent - there's an Italian restaurant down the street - "El Guss" - that could definitely take lessons from their fry-chef! Not super cheap, but definitely worth it, and if you don't want to spend much, the lunch menu is cheap, abundant and varied. Recommended!

Prosecco e bruschetta di benvenuto, la vera pizza napoletana rivisitata in chiave gourmet con ingredienti di grande qualità . Prezzi onesti e alla fine anche il limoncello offerto. Simpatico e rapido il servizio. Da provare!!

We had lunch here (4 adults), based on Tripadvisor and Google+ reviews on our way back north after a visit to Milano. We were looking for seafood in particular, and for a Sunday noon. The place is quite low profile and not very large. The service was good, authentic (I believe it was the owner). No problem to order two starters and then 3 dishes between the 4 of us. Very delicious homemade pasta and very nice seafood with it. Reasonable priced for the high quality. The place started filling up around 12:30 / 13:00 with Italians...

Staying at the DoubleTree around the corner we did not want to drive for dinner so we checked the closest restaurant and walked there. Arrived just when they opened and when they asked if we made a reservation (on a Wed night) we knew there must be something special with this place as it has actually quite some number of tables available. Luckily they offered us a table if we were able to finish by 21:00 (the credit card receipt showed 20:59 later! ). The menu was rather unspectacular and simple. I ordered grilled fish with vegetables and see on the pictures what that meant! A full dinner with wine, espresso dessert etc. for just 50⬠was a bargain too. But the food was nothing short of spectacular. If in Milan, one has to go there.

We had a fantastic lunch here with friends during a trip to Italy, it was one of the best meals of our trip, the owners are wonderfully friendly and the food not only tastes amazing but the presentation is beautiful too. The ingredients used were absolutely delicious, great wine and wonderful service. You can really feel the warmth of the owners in this quirky restaurant, there is also a lovely courtyard where you can sit outside. The desserts were great too with the best tirimasu we had during our 8 day trip. Highly recommended!!!!!

I visited this fine establishment alongside friends on Valentines day 2016 and could not be happier! There service is wonderfully polite and efficient. The food is some of the best I have ever eaten and the decor is simple but elegant. A hidden gem in the Milan suburb of Arese!I highly recommend and will return.

If you want to go and eat and experience something other than the usual sushi this is a great choice. The steamed and grilled ravioli were really delicious I especially liked the grilled prawn.I also tried the rice with XO sauce which they kindly offered to make a little more spicy- it was spicy and tasty. One of the great things about this restaurant was the service. They are really helpful in helping you pick menu items and it really was service with a smile. The service really was part of the charm of this small restaurant with a charming relaxed atmosphere.I will be coming back for more.

When I went here, the atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was very clean. The menu had all the Italian classics, such as tiramisu, and different varieties of pasta. The service was excellent, the food took no time at all to come to the table. The portions were perfect, the plating was excellent, and above all the food was delicious. The restaurant was full of people, from couples, to families, to friends. Definitely a restaurant for multiple types of get togethers. I definitely will come here again on my next trip to Italy. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Italy. Some of the best food I ate on my whole trip.

Went with colleagues one evening based on Trip Advisor rating. First thing you notice even from outside is how bright it is - too bright! Seems it has been recently redecorated, very white, clean, fresh, yes I get it; but glaring. Reminds me of a Scottish east coast fish and chip restaurant, only with tablecloths. At one point they did the birthday cake thing for another customer, turned the lights down - perfect! The food: I had tuna carpaccio to start, very simple, FREEZING cold but not actually frozen - I liked that. Then I ordered sea bass. Well I thought I did, thatâs what the waiter translated it as. Not sure what it was that turned up, may have been tuna goujons, possibly with poppy seed coating. It was really quite tasty, my bad for not speaking the language so I scoffed it happily. Colleagues were very complimentary about their First Plate, one pasta, one risotto. The table opposite us had a mixed sea platter, I was very jealous. Maybe next time.

After trying most restaurants in Bollate Trattoria Silvano has become my absolutely favorite lunch restaurant in the area. Here I have tried lots of Italian specialties I had never tried before. The friendly couple owning the place are always happy to help and recommend the most delicious Italian plates. At lunch time they offer a lunch menu for a good value including a pasta plus a plate of meat or fish with any kinds of vegetables. Everything is home made at the time! For whoever loves Italian food, this is a restaurant to visit.
