I have moved from Wickford but I still go back here for my fish and chips. The food is great and the portion size is generous . There is never a massive wait time despite always being busy. None of the local chippies compare!!

We had a takeaway fish and chips from here last week and I have to say the food was superb!We were greeted by the owner, Jimmy and his staff and show their selection of fish.They also serve pies, chicken and much more!The fish was cooked to perfection and our cod was moist and the chips were well cooked.If you haven't tried this take away before, it's been open for about seven months,give it a try!

I came to this fish and chip shop whilst visiting my Grandma. I had a pie, my Grandma jumbo sausage which were both pretty standard. My Dad had a c99ked to order haddock which looked good and he said tasted lovely. The chips were nice but a large portion would have barelynfed one person, we had to really stretch it to serve 3 adults. I was still hungry when I'd finished!

After the really rave Trip Advisor reviews, I was expecting considerably better than I got.I think I was given the end of a batch of chips - good quantity, but probably half the volume were small bits rather than whole chips.The piece of cod I got was really small. I didn't ask for a large piece, but neither did I ask for a small piece. It was covered by lots of very tasty batter, but at one point I looked at a cross section - The batter above and below the fish was thicker than the fish itself.

Decided to try the Happy Haddock in Billericay for the first time, after using many others in the area over many years. We all thought that this was the best fish & chips takeaway around. They cook it fresh why you wait but it is well worth the wait. The fish Cod had a light crispy batter and not greasy like many other places with beautiful tasting fish. For the first time we had chips that were crisp and fresh, unlike the soggy chips that we have had from other fish shops. Will definitely return, please continue with this high standard of food.

Have been thinking of going here for quite a while, and finally, on the spur of the moment, decided to just do it. Rang and booked a table, and had no problems doing so. Found a car space, and were welcomed very nicely and shown to our table. The decor is very light, open and welcoming, yet also somewhat private. The menu is extensive, and caters for many tastes. The service was impeccable, being unobtrusive, and yet very attentive and helpful at the same time. Nothing was overlooked to ensure you have a wonderful dining experience. We ordered, and the food arrived within a short time, and it was all very nicely cooked and, be warned, quite large portions!! Each dish was very tasty, and my daughter loved the pizza and cheese garlic bread. Price-wise, it is not too extravagant, and well worth the price, as the food is excellent. Now we have been, we are very tempted to return, and may well do so, as it is definitely worth a return visit, Service, atmosphere, price, ambiance, and very nice food are all magnets drawing us back to do it again. Highly recommended.

The food was absolutely faultless, quality ingredients and a delicious three course meal. The service let down our first experience here for me. We found all to be very polite but the inexperience of the young waiters was evident. Had to ask for more water and for wine to be topped up as the bottle is kept away from the table, my dessert order was incorrect which meant that my partner had nearly finished his by the time mine arrived. An apology was given but I think this should have been removed from the bill (something I would have done as I also work in the industry). £15 service charge on top was steep for the service provided. I would return as the food was exceptional! Some training and attention to detail would improve the overall experience.
