We visited this restaurant after reading a wonderful review in Westchester Magazine. They must have been there on a GREAT night. We arrived and one hostess greeted us and then walked away. Another young woman came over and then brought us to our table. Eric was our waiter----he was wonderful however everyone around him was of NO support. We ordered the steamers with the bread on the side due to a gluten allergy. First order---great except a quarter of the shells were empty and no bread appeared. We order another---this comes with the bread in the dish. So another comes which the young woman tries very unsuccessfully to deliver to the wrong table--again she didn't understand what the customer was saying! The additional wait staff have limited understanding and would try to clear your plates before you were done....then it was on the customer to try to explain, no not finished there is still food on the plate. Onto the entrees. Each of us ordered something different. I ordered the fusilli with chicken which had ziti and spaghetti in it! My daughter ordered the duck which was good. Her boyfriend ordered the tavern burger which proceeded to come out completely plain. All the toppings were missing. Eric brought it back and returned with another burger saying the kitchen gave him the wrong one. When we were waiting on the check--almost 9:00 the music came on and the air conditioning in addition to during our dinner one of the waitstaff decided to light all the candles while people were eating. Hoping we caught them on a truly bad night....we went over to Bedford for dessert. Wishing them well....but we won't be back.

We were looking for a "new" place to try and found this on one the web.We dined here on a recent Saturday. Had a 6:45 reservation that was honored right on time and we were seated promptly. The place was already busy and about 80% of the tables were full.It was VERY noisy and tables were close but everyone managed. Service was friendly and prompt. We had a tasty "eggplant stack" appetizer that came hot and crisp. The eggplant was firm but juicy. The accompanying greens were fresh and the dressing was very good,The salads were OK but unimpressive. We had the Classic Caesar and the "Wedge" Salads. The Caesar was crisp but a bit "watery" and could have used a little more dressing. It was a competent version of Caesar but not the best I've had. My friends wedge was a little smaller than versions from other restaurants and its not like iceberg lettuce is scarce. The entrees were another story. The ribs were very good. A nice blend of sweet and savory sauce was plentiful and the meat was classic "fall off the bone" tender. Portions were ample and the french fries and coleslaw we both delish. The prosciutto Flat bread also was tasty and the turkey burger was juicy altho a little on the "thin" side. All in all it was a good experience and we will come back. You should try it too. Thanks for visiting and I'm happy to see you were pleased with your experience! We wish you'd been more impressed by our salads. Please know you should always let us know if you're unhappy with your meal and our team will do what we can to take care of you. We do tend to get busier at certain times, especially around dinner on the weekend. I'm thrilled you enjoyed your eggplant stack, ribs and flatbread. Hope to see you soon

Each of our dishes was excellent. We didn't expect to find such great seafood in Pleasantville, but we were really impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the refined presentation. I drove over an hour from New Jersey to meet friends here, and I will gladly return due to the quality of the food and the warm welcome by the chef/owner. Highly recommended.

After living in Bedford for 18 years, we finally tried Conte's Fish Market. What a surprise! The fried calamari as an appetizer was fresh and perfectly prepared with a dipping sauce which might be somewhat too hot for some palates. However, the piece de resistance was the lobster. I had the stuffed broiled lobster and my wife had the lobster fra diavalo. Both lobsters were strikingly fresh and perfectly prepared. We've had lobsters at City Island, the Hamptons and Maine. The lobsters at Conte's were among the best we've ever had. Sitting in this small restaurant, we saw patron after patron being warmly greeted on a first name basis by the owner. This clientele know something we only learned after 18 years. Conte's is exceptional.
This is a unique place. I can buy great smoked salmon at a good price. This is the salmon that you find in a lot of retail stores ,so clearly they distribute their products. They also have a nice variety of olives. I will go back to try some of the other products.
