Set on the Historic Hudson River, Blu Pointe is a Newburgh Waterfront Restaurant that offers something for everyone. The temperature controlled walk-in wine room holds over 3,000 new and old world wines and serves as a dramatic backdrop to our cozy lounge
When you consider all the elements that must coalesce for a meal to be great then this was a great eating experience. Firsts of all the location is superb, right on the shores of the Hudson River. Then the décor is light, elegant and very contemporary. The service was professional and spot-on; I would say it matched my European standards. And then, of course, was the food. The menu is very enticing but they have a $20 prix fix with a wonderful selection of options that really caught my attention. Had the grilled oysters, which were still sweet and moist and with a good amount of bacon, and then I had the fish of the day which was salmon. I just came back from Chile and, let me tell you, this fish was excellent in all respects. Without doubt this was a highlight meal ion the Hudson Valley area.

Many menu items and daily specials. All were very good. We went on a Sunday- the place was crowded and very noisy. Service was good. Prices were ok. Would recommend this restaurant. Avoid getting a table by the bar.

This is an older restaurant. We visited on a warm spring evening and sat outside and overlooked the river. The food was very good and the service was timely, until we ordered coffee and dessert when it slowed down. The waitress was pleasant, though not terribly excited about providing separate checks. Overall, it was a pleasant evening and I would return if I were back in the area. Parking is in a municipal lot across the street with easy access to the restaurant.
Where to eat Cafe food in Beacon: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Front Street in Newburgh is a busy dinner, club scene area in the evenings. Parking can be difficult. There are a variety of different restaurants in this area and we arrived right when the restaurants turn from restaurant to night club, bar scenes. They did seat us outside on the patio for dinner, but I believe we were the last people to be seated. As we were eating, there were 3-4 staff members stacking tables, moving chairs all around us. Basically, removing all the furniture around us.The waitress was friendly and I think she just wanted to go home. They probably should have just told us they were closed for dinner, but they sat us and served us. We tried the Calamari, Penne alla Vodka and Teriyaki pork chops. They were just ok. Alot of food just piled on the plate. The presentation was very average (and a bit sloppy) and the food was very average. The view was nice. As we finished, we were the only table left. The bar crowd was starting to grow and I swear I saw a disco ball with lights inside the restaurant. Would we go back? Probably not for dinner. Maybe for a drink. Would probably try another restaurant on Front Street.
