Unique. Awesome. Fabulous. Creations comparable to the best restaurant anywhere. Today we tried Alfredo and itâs just as spectacular as the hollandaise. Fried grits are also a must. Bread pudding to die for. They put so much love into their cooking and it shows!
We went to Bayou La Batre to see the area where the shrimp boating portion of the Forrest Gump movie was filmed. We drove down Shell Belt Rd. and saw many working shrimp boats, seafood processors, and dry-docks. We wanted to find a non-touristy restaurant/cafe in the midst of all this, and found The Bayou Bait Shop. It's mainly a bait shop, but they also have awesome crawfish, boiled peanuts and cold beer. We sat up on a deck overlooking the water, and watched shrimp boats go by. They have whatever is currently in season, which happened to be crawfish when we went. It is VERY rustic, but if you like an adventure, and friendly service, this is a great little gem of a find.
Today I had the BEST Oyster PoBoy of my life at this very small restaurant/seafood market; it was frankly spectacular!: Warm flavorfull bread, lots of oysters perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the trimming lettuce and tomato were hyper fresh and tasty. I ordered onion rings as a side and they were the best I;ve had as well, what a lunch this turned out to be as my wife ordered the shrimp burgers and were really good. We had a feast! AND at very reasonable prices.

Start with a salad. Itâs just your basic iceberg mix but their house made dressings are amazing - especially the thousand island. We had mullet and grits (Wednesday special) and grilled shrimp. Exceptional mullet! Shrimp were good but not terribly large. Nice baked potato. Donât expect ambiance. Feels like an old greasy diner but well worth going to. Very nice food!

We got off the main road to find Murder Point Oysters. We asked where we should eat & we decided to try Catalinaâs. The staff is so friendly, attentive & kind. My husband ordered the catfish with fries, slaw & hush puppies and I ordered the shrimp with a baked sweet potato, salad & hush puppies. Both were very good. My grandfather owned a small restaurant in our small hometown when I was growing up, which so reminded me of those days where the locals come in & the staff apologizes because they forgot your birthday was the day before!
