Wanted to try a traditional classy Spanish restaurant while in Ayamonte and chose Casa Luciano partly because of location and partly because of Tripadvisor reviews. No English was spoken although an English menu was eventually produced when the waiter noticed we were struggling over a phrase book. The highlight of the meal was my starter of clams marinara which were excellent but my wife's soup was very ordinary with no offer of croutons or anything else to jazz it up. Our mains were stuffed squid and grilled tuna but both sadly lacking in both quality and presentation. The tuna was over cooked and presented with a side of cold potato, onion and tomato salad. The squid was in a bland creamy sauce but very uninspiring. The service was ponderous and reluctant although the language difficulties may have been a factor here. The restaurant was busy with Spanish customers who were obviously enjoying themselves but our overall impression was of a meal that might have been regarded as acceptable 30 years ago but falls far short of modern expectations.

We checked TA, and found this restaurant at the top of the list, and as we were in town for a special birthday, reserved a table. On a Friday February evening it turned out to be very quiet, and for our first half hour had the undivided attention of a friendly and knowledgeable waiter, and having complimented him on his excellent English, had a good chat about his career in England and on cruise ships. Later I over heard him telling a Swiss couple how he had worked in Switzerland too, so he may just have been very âsimpaticoâ, but was clearly good at his job. The restaurant is very large and nicely decorated inside with a well-stocked bar, and interesting wall art. The menu is interesting, and we shared some octopus tentacles as a starter, and they were very tender and well presented. Our main of Steak Bohéme was a bit of a disappointment as the âsteakâ (Entrecôte) on the menu was in fact a rather pale veal, and the beer sauce was rather bland. Good hand cut chips and boiled vegetables were the accompaniment, but the cauliflower had a spongy texture as if marinated in oil before steaming. A massive plate of profiteroles with cream and ice cream completed a competent dinner, and we left feeling well satisfied.Thank you very much for your kind evaluation wich allows us to track the quality of our service and food. We are pleased that it has been positive overall but we will try the maximum score possible in the next time you join us, which is our only goal.Sem Espinhas Guadiana

Arrived for a late lunch and enjoyed a delicious vegetable soup and huge tuna steaks, with salad and potatoes, and all washed down with a half litre of house white. Simple, tasty and generally Good! Easy on the pocket too!

Manola the owner knows all of the fishermen and gets pick of the catch. Ask what is best that day. The dorada was the best I have ever had. Excellent chef, everything cooked to perfection. Passionate about their food. A must visit place for evening meal.

Ayamonte is delightful port town nestled on the Spiansh border and is well worth the trip. Many Portuguese do so to stock up on cheaper groceries and fuel. So, whilst your doing that stop for some refreshment. There is large choice and El Choco is found near the Marina on the waterfront. Popular with locals and the odd tourist the menu is tapas orientated but not as much as you might expect. Charming inner restaurant with wood panelling makes for its appeal. We found the gambas prawns really quite expensive so choose wisely. Better still ask the waiter!

I have been visiting this restaurant for more than 8 years. My family constantly go back as we know what we will get - great fresh food, simply prepared, well cooked, smiling waitress service who cope with my pathetic attempts at speaking Spanish.

Excellent surprise. A wonderfull "arroz a marinera": perfectly done, very tasty. The deserts are also homemade: delicious. A restaurant in the same family for 40 years, they really know how to welcome and let people fell good. To repeat for sure and take some friends!

Restaurant by the sea, we serve wonderful meals, with fresh fish, and delicious seafood! Waiting for you on the beach of Monte Gordo, to serve either a meal or just a divine cocktail!
We celebrated a birthday here tonight and had a lovely evening. The steak with 3 peppercorn sauce was superb and cook perfectly, and the monkfish and prawn skewers were delicious. The brownie dessert was extremely and yummy! The restaurant is right on the beach and the views are incredible, especially in the evening at sunset. It had a lovely atmosphere and the live music really added to it. We definitely recommend this restaurant, it was a fabulous start to the trip and really is somewhere very special. Esperamos voltar a surpreender. Até breve...Cumprimentos Marsalgado
