The location is truly beautiful, and they have clearly done a great job of turning the old bus station into a beautiful venue. Unfortunately, once the place filled up it was so unbearably loud that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. The open concept looks great but does not work well in practice because of the noise issue.Service was good. No complaints there, though it was a bit slow considering that there were only about 5 tables occupied when we arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday. The food was tasty and well-prepared, but nothing to write home about considering the price point. We ordered the gulf fish parmadine ($40 for red snapper that day) and the seafood trinity ($31). At a more reasonable price, I would probably be raving about the place and itching to go back. But with the cheapest glass of wine at $11, this restaurant is vastly outpricing the market in this town. Hopefully they will adjust as the newness factor wears off, and then we will possibly go regularly. I don't mind paying for great food, but in this case, unfortunately, I can think of far better plates/places in town with a MUCH more reasonable price range.

Dropped by for an early lunch on a Saturday morning and were the first customers there. Seated inside in a small, front dining room and greeted by our server, Victoria.Wanted something not too heavy as we were headed to an afternoon ballgame on a hot day. Ordered the Blackened Shrimp Tacos with avocado, lettuce, corn salsa, and a spicy aioli. The pair of tacos were filled with tasty shrimp and with the fillings, made for a delicious lunch. Picked a side of black beans and rice, and when dusted with a little lime and lemon juice, made a perfect compliment to the tacos. My friend had the shrimp basket, which were a half dozen large fried shrimp, which came with fries and slaw. Said they were outstanding as well. Victoria made sure that we had anything we needed, including bringing us a fresh glass of tea without asking.Nice atmosphere, with the option of both indoor dining or outside on a covered patio.Prices were very reasonable for the quality and amount of food provided.

The Porterhouse Grill is an elegant American steakhouse located in beautiful downtown Athens. An extensive wine list, patio seating and an event space are sure to please the steak and seafood eater alike.
Wife and I dined at the bar so we could watch NCAA basketball. Service was impeccable. We enjoyed great sports conversation with Zach and food/restaurant conversation with John. The draft beer selection was impressive, as was our pre-meal serving of bread. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her New York strip and my seafood tortellini was awesome. It included large shrimp and scallops covered in a delicious sauce. By far, Porterhouse Grill was our most enjoyable stop in Athens.

The Seabear was on the âmust visitâ list for Athens, great atmosphere and staff. The staff was attentive, friendly, and worked with speed and efficiency. We had water delivered as we were sitting, the staff made suggestions that further enhanced the experience. We started with the oysters which were excellent. I had the fish and chips and enjoyed very much. The low country boil is also high recommend (was a special of the day). Great experience.

Harry Bissets used to be our favorite Athens restaurant. We were so sad when it closed, and so delighted to find this restaurant, which is apparently owned by the former chef of that restaurant. We enjoyed carpetbagger steak for the first time in years and it was excellent! Thank you!The deviled eggs topped with fried oysters were also perfect.
