The owner of the Hungry Traveler is a very poor and hostile person and restaurant manager. As a patron, I watched the owner come out and chastise an elderly couple about an overcooked hamburger they had sent back because they had ordered it medium rare! He actually threatened the couple saying that "I better not see you back here again" All this in front of his other restaurant customers. I was appalled to see and hear such behavior by a restaurant owner. We will never go back there again and I believe the consensus of all the people in the restaurant, that saw and heard what he said and how he said it, will never go back either. My advice for all new and existing customers ...STAY AWAY!

My wife and I (two older folks, long time New Englanders) stopped in for lunch on a Friday for no other reason than we saw their bill board sign while driving from the north towards Newburyport. Right on the harbor, great views, open bar/table seating. I had the fried combo - two choices of the 4 offered (fish, scallops, whole belly clams, or shrimp). I chose the clams & scallops and they were some of the best tasting that I've ever had in my 50 years of eating fried seafood. A bit on the pricey side ($30 for a lunch meal), but well worth it, taste-wise. My wife had the scrimp tacos, and she raved about the pineapple sauce. Service was attentive. A great choice for a stop along the seacoast.

We have eaten at the Poynt a few times, it has a nice location and atmosphere with a lively bar area. Very modern, open layout. The food has been consistently good and the service excellent. The only downside is that it can be difficult to hold a conversation, as is common in these open layouts. Now I would only go for lunch or if I knew it was going to be less busy.Hi Robert,We are glad you enjoy our atmosphere, food and service. We understand it can get quite noisy when we are busy! Be sure to visit us for lunches on Thursdays & Fridays during the summer. Thank you for taking the time to review us, we appreciate the feedback. Thanks,Katie

they seem to be doing a pretty good business from what I can see. Employees are on the ball and stay busy. They also have pretty good Pizza.

Make that a seafood platter for 2 is more like for 4. So much food and seafood come on the overwhelming size platter. Clams, shrimp, scallops and haddock are in overabundance on the plate. Scallops were sweet and large. Cooked to perfection with all the tenderness and not any rubbery fried food feel. Clams were good size bellies and the fish was moist and flaky. If you are trying to eat health, run the other way or order a salad instead of the fries.

This is a great location, and they've landscaped so that it's beautiful outside as well. They had some great choices in terms of food, and what we had was really good - lobster bisque had plenty of lobster in it, and the lobster roll was delicious. However, the service was slow (our server disappeared at times - one time to bring me water, which never materialized) and the lack of cleanliness was really off-putting. I've attached a photo of some sort of fixture hanging from overhead our table - and it's covered in cobwebs. Long, drippy cobwebs. (In early September - this wasn't a Halloween decoration). And a bug in the sink in the bathroom which I reported to the people at the host stand who could not have cared less. There's such potential there - I want to believe that at dinner time the service would better, but there's still the issue of the cobwebs, which didn't happen overnight.Hello, and thank you for writing about our establishment. I'm happy you enjoyed your food and our views. Being an indoor / outdoor restaurant, we do open ourselves to insects coming in, despite precautions we take such as air blowers above doorways. I'm sorry you felt the host did not care about your observation, but I do recall a host getting me for that exact reason in September. Whether it was your instance or another I am not sure. Thank you again for coming to see us and we hope you will come by the next time you are in the area. Regards,Beau

For Roast Beef and onion rings, five stars. Service prompt and friendly, place is always clean. The roast beef NEVER disappoints!!! The fries are not a favorite, but the onion rings are great. Salads okay, spanakopita very good, hot dogs great for the kids.

We enjoyed eating at this restaurant close to the waterfront. The place was bustling on a Saturday evening, but we were able to get an inside table. Wine by the glass was pricey, although the serving was generous. I ordered flounder, which was really fresh and came with a heap of garlic potatoes and squash. Our server was great, however, as she cleared the table, she broke my husband's water glass. An unfortunate accident that she apologized profusely for.

Welcome To Brine! Newburyport's First Oyster, Crudo and Chop Bar! We have differant oysters available each and every day, the freshest seafood selections, and prime beef selections from the butcher. Enjoy live shucking behind our bar as well as intriguing
Wow...didnât think there could be more uncomfortable seating in an eating establishment. We sat at the bar before dinner and had to turn sideways as there wasnât enough âlipâ to sit comfortably. It looks as though they tried to extend it by screwing a piece of metal on...but it was a feeble and unsuccessful attempt. The table seating wasnât much better and the persons in our party that sat on the isle were continually brushed by the hips and asses of the servers as they walked by.In terms of the service and fare....meh. Servings were very small and standard in taste. The meals came out slowly but the server came over 3 times to see if we needed additional drinks. When the food came out it was lukewarm...like they were trying to get us to order more drinks before we ate...we prefer to eat our meals sober thank you.The prices were very high and the value was extremely low. We left hungry and annoyed...at the uncomfortable seating, the pushing of drinks, the pedestrian food, and exorbitant prices. No fun AT ALL.

Good food, courteous staff, fair prices. Full of locals which usually means consistent food quality. We always look for a restaurant with a lot of locals. We had chicken salad and tuna salad. Pretty normal fair. The freshness was noticeable. The chicken salad was homemade. The place was packed for lunch and it was past 2:00 oâclock. An Enjoyable quick meal.
