Find out what Seafood restaurants to try in Aigues-Mortes. "Aigues-Mortes" translates to "dead waters," but the salt marshes surrounding this medieval city actually have given this town one of its chief industries: sea-salt production. (Bring some home for epicurean friends.) Fortified into a Mediterranean port in the 12th century, Aigues-Mortes’ massive walls survive—walk along them for great views.

We have waited a year to turn to this excellent fish restaurant in Aigues-Morte. Just 20 yards from the tourist traps in the square this gem serves the very best fish we have ever tasted. A starter of tellines and oysters followed by brill made for a perfect Sunday lunch and a sunny day. The staff are friendly and part of this happy experience and the world passes by as you eat at a table on the pavement. Cant recommend this highly enough - we are planning to return before the end of our holiday. Very unusual for us - but this place is so good. Three courses with wine just short of â¬100 - not cheap but the quality is excellent and far better value than the plat de jour on offer elsewhere. You could have one or two excellent courses for much less.

This restaurant has a stunning location on the beach and it was very pleasant to sit there and soak up the wonderful sea views. However the food was just acceptable, and the service was very slow. I ordered a dish with king prawns which were tasteless. When the manageress/ owner asked me why I had left them and I gave her my answer she scolded me for not appreciating the fact they were wild prawns. Very strange customer service, but whatever.

We have eaten in La Citadelle before, always seafood and it is always fresh. This time we decided on the paella and we were delighted. The portions were big, the rice seasoned perfectly and there were loads of mussels, shrimps, small squid and chicken as well as vegetables in each dish.Service was quick, even though the restaurant was quite full.Another nice experience:)

"Charming service, freshest fish, shellfish and crustacea; in the main square of one of the most charming and unspoilt little fortified villages in France. Much loved by locals".
Had lunch here last Thursday, with my husband and mum-in-law. We were visiting Aigues-Mortes for the day, and thought this looked like a good bet for lunch. We were very pleased with all our choices - two salades composees and a grilled sea-bass. Generous portions, and the fish was filleted, by our waiter, at our table. Very good food, friendly and efficient service - and we would definitely eat here again! We had booked a table for three earlier in the morning, and although we couldn't get a table at the very front, we were still outside, but under a lovely shady umbrella. The restaurant was packed, but service was very good!

Docked in a site of exception, on the pond of Aigues-Mortes, at the foot of the Constance's tower, our boat welcomes you for the lunch and dinner. The shells from Camargue are directly fished by the boss, Mickaël Perez, and his local network. Their tradit
The concept of this restaurant, that is conveniently and nicely located right outside the city walls, is: kitchen on the boat, dinning on land. The focus is clearly on FRESH fish and seafood dishes. during dinner you can watch some old b/w movie footage on a big screen over the water. Worth every penny !
