Kyle of Lochalsh (from the Scottish Gaelic Caol Loch Aillse, "strait of the foaming loch") is a village on the northwest coast of Scotland, 63 miles (100 km) west of Inverness. It is located on the Lochalsh peninsula, at the entrance to Loch Alsh, opposite the village of Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye. A ferry used to connect the two villages until it was replaced by the Skye Bridge, about a mile (2 km) to the west, in 1995.

We saw the restaurant sign at the hotel entrance and sat in the area close to the bar and waited for ages at empty tables - no cutlery, etc. Turned out that the only menu was the board at the bar. The most expensive food for what it was that I recollect anywhere, however it was good if not fresh home cooking. We helped ourselves to cutlery, etc and eventually found the salt! You will need to be a fan of plastic flowers as they obstruct the view. The hotel's central heating does not seem to work and it was not warm despite the tiny best efforts of a small electric heater! The view hardly enhanced by the rusting memorial to the mine laying squadron, the table umbrellas that had been left out all winter and the rusting broken chain railing. The hotel burns its rubbish near by.

Great welcome from really friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. The menu of dishes identified as surfy, turfy, or wee includes some great choices and very good value. The mussels were beautifully presented, really tasty and although from the "wee" choices a good sized portion.

Loved the place and the produce all looks amazing with a seafood tinge to the options but i went for a sausage roll which was fantastic.I normally always have a coffee everywhere but £3.50 for a flat white is the most expensive I have seen anywhere (Previous Record was £3.20 in Soho London) so i decided against it. Food also on the pricey side but I think if they get the price point correct then these guys are onto a winner for sure. Good luck to all at Gun Ainm.

A GREAT PLACE TO MEET AND EAT. Serving delicious dishes from the land, sea, soups, snacks and afternoon tea.
When we arrived in the afternoon they had just finished serving afternoon tea so we had coffee and cake. Lovely butternut squash cake and pear and bramble. We decided to go back for dinner and werenât disappointed. Best meal of our weekend away. Black pudding with goats cheese and Cullen skink to start followed by Vegetarian lasagne and a cheeseburger. Delicious.

We had a booked a table for 19.30 and arrived 5 mins early and were welcomed and shown our table. Ordered our dinner immediately for it to arrive 5 mins later. My husband had hoped to receive the steak and ale pie with steamed veg and chips while I had ordered the scampi. Unfortunately he had not understood the menu correctly and if you wanted chips instead of potatoes you werenât allowed the vegetables! The table beside us questioned the server on the same point to no avail.I ordered scampi but it was served as sushi - as a result, the waitress told us our bill would be adjusted accordingly. In our opinion a £3 discount was not an appropriate adjustment and after some further âdiscussionâ, the scampi meal was discounted completely. However, the damage was already done......Thank you for your response. Firstly i will discuss your meals, the simple answer is of course you could have steamed vegetables with your meal, you are the customers and what every variation of the menu you would like , will always be catered by the kitchen . I have no idea why you were not advised of this on you visit to the cafe. The scampi I buy in is premium wholetail scampi and it very moist and juicy, I know you described it as sushi but to be honest over the 706 reviews I have had, you are the first person ever to complain about it. i can understand it was not to your personal taste but it was cooked correctly as usual. The reason the girl did not discount the whole meal was due to the fact that you had eaten nearly all the scampi and she felt this was not justified as at no point did you tell her you did not like it or in fact state to her their was a problem. The girl then phoned my self at home and i discounted the meal as she has no authority to do this on that evening.I normally would state that i will address the problem with the staff but due to other problems that particular evening the waitress in question, employment was terminate with myself.Best wishesMhairi MacinnesOwner

Small cosy hut which serves homemade food , everything is cooked at the hut,, On a wet cold day you can snuggle up inside and enjoy the warmth of the little stove , that blasts out heat , loads of interesting books to read as you are waiting for your food
Sheena's Tea Hut was recommended to us, and we could see why. We called in for lunch before going on the coastal path. The soup was excellent, and I'm really critical of poor soup! My husband had the Ploughmans, with coleslaw that looked homemade and he really enjoyed it. Very friendly and great decor.

Glenelg based supper clubs. BYOB. Tasting menus and Sunday Brunch. Also available for private dinners for up to 12 guests.
Verity and Jenny cooked and served a fantastic dinner for my guests at my 50th Birthday Party last weekend. The food was delicious and beautifully presented to 14 guests at the House we had rented. They were a joy to work with from the outset, quick to respond, suggest menu options and very organised on the day itself. A talented pair indeed! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone as my experience was truly faultless.
