It is more like a motel or B&B, rooms have own entrance to the outside, about 20 minutes from Ruka for downhill skiing but right by the hotel we have the possibility to go crosscountry skiing or take a snow scooter trip. Also husky sled riding is possible, the owner can arrange that. You drive your own sled and the guide will have his sled in front. Can be very cloese to the Russian border trail. Food was excellent.

We visit Ruka every year and usually head here in the evenings.The Finnish have extremely high standards and the food is fabulous. Even for kids they are great. They supply colouring supplies for them. Water readily available at the table for free, even the napkins are amazing and I know that sounds silly but I haven't found a restaurant here in the uk with napkins this good.This is a friendly establishment with very well spoken English by all staff.It's also very comfortable and the food is really good and fresh and not long waits either. They also offer a buffet which I will be trying in a few weeks as that's the only thing I haven't tried yet.

again we ate prior to new years eve here with two children and although it was a little expensive the food and service were fab. It appears the restaurants in Ruka village probably because its a ski resort charge similar so its a matter of favouritism.

We stayed 4 nights here, which included breakfast and dinner. The owner/manager Matti was a delight with insightful ideas and experience. The breakfast consisted of vegetables, cheese, meats, fish, hot cereal, and some fruit. The dinner consisted of salads, meat/fish, and potatoes or pasta. Both meals were served buffet style. All the meals were good with some exceptional, especially the fish.

We came here during a fishing trip in Kuusamo region. It was really a nice surprise, the food is excellent, recipes are coming from the Chef's international experience combined with local food, mostly fish of the region. The service is top class and location is unique. The price is not cheap, but you have to pay for such quality, of course. Strongly recommended.

Probably the most expensive restaurant in Ruka, the food is amazing, but can take time, and the prices are correct for portion sizes. It also felt as though you should dress up a bit for this, instead of turning up in your ski suits as I and a friend did for lunch!

Terrible buffé. Receipes from The 70:s. The flavours in The buffé had no connection each other. And The Soya brass, in Finnish "soija käristys" as one in the group told: "My hairs on my arms still stand out".And I can told You I'm not possible for give my rating on this forum. We had the best meal here during our stay in Ruka. Very high quality and everything is made and presented skillful, so forget the raclette, the lappish food will blow you away. The scenery is dreamlike with illuminated, snowcovered trees, not in my pics;-) extra mention for the service, which was extraordinary.

We loved our few hours spent there. We had the husky ride to start with, a bit short of course and very commercial (in the sense that it's all a bit rush rush), but the good thing is no need to book in advance so that's great. We also had a reindeer sleigh ride and again, it was short but very enjoyable. We could feed the reindeer's after the ride and there it didn't feel like we were being rushed so we enjoyed it. The cafe itself is very cozy, with a fire in the middle and a pancake stall outside. There was a good choice of food. For us one thing could be improved : to allow wifi access. There is a poster up asking customer to like them on Facebook, but no wifi no like !
