Food was a struggle in small towns especially for vegetarians in Iceland (us). This meal was not only the best meal we had in Iceland, it was one of the best meals we have ever had, period. The portions were so big I wish we would have split one plate and gotten an extra salad instead because we were so full we could barely walk. Dessert is also divine and not to be missed. Wait staff attentive, and every detail was carefully planned out by this superb team. Make reservations. We would have gone again if we had one more night in this area; it's that good.

Cafe Emil is open over the summer time in the same facilty as the tourist information center in Grundarfjordur. We make sure that our cafe and dishes are always made fresh.
Great stop, when it happens to be open! The coffee was very good, and their waffles were an excellent brunch find. Honestly not much else was available in this little town. Unfortunately the second day we tried to go they were closed at 11, even when their door said they opened at 10 that day.

I ate here my first night in town and considered dining here again, but thought I should try another restaurant. I regret that choice. Hotel Framnes has such sections food! The fish was delicate and the garden salad tasted so fresh! It is the best of the four places I ate in town!
