I am originally from Kansas City so I believe I know some good barbecue when I try it. I've tried many barbecue places around my area and NOT one comes close to Hinze's. I love this place. Their meat is always tender and juicy. Their potatoes are to die for!!!!

We meet a group of folks at 9er's every Saturday morning for breakfast. The food is good, the staff is very accommodating, and it is a pleasant place to meet. The only "complaint" I could register is that the quantity of food or the serving size in many cases are too large. I can't believe I am saying that but they could cut back a little. Many times at meals other than breakfast, we have asked for take-out cartons.

I have eaten here at least least 6 times. Each time it is delicious. The food is fresh & delicious. You can call ahead (a day or 2) & they will make up fresh loaves of bread for you to purchase. There sourdough bread is...MoreThank you Hobbycenterfan! We'll keep working hard to earn your admiration.

Our table was under a ceiling vent that dripped from air conditioning. This is a health hazzard especially if it gets into the food or drinks. When we pointed this out, the attitude appeared to be "so what it's dripping" and the best our server would do is to have us both sit on the opposite side of the table against the wall and push the table closer to the wall (uncomfortable). There were empty tables and booths, not a full house.
Our food order was a very long time coming, no one came to update or check on us. Guests arrived after us and were served before our order finally arrived. The food was very good when it finally arrived. We had ordered one soft drink and one coffee at the beginning. Someone refilled the soft drink but never refilled the coffee. When our server finally returned, he took the coffee cup and refilled it.
Overall not impressed.

I am not a big bbq person, but this is by far the best I've ever had. Parking is a little dicey but hey the food is worth it.

My wife & I had lunch at Jr's this past weekend. Jr's is known for it's excellent chicken salad and we decided we wanted some! The portions are very generous and we order the child's-size sandwich because the regular one is huge and difficult to eat without a knife and fork. Their side dishes, BBQ, pastries, homemade breads, jerky, etc. are all excellent. This is a great place to stop if you are on US-59/IH-69 southwest of Houston. Jr's is on the southbound side of the highway.

We have eaten dinner at Hinze's Country Kitchen many times. Our absolute favorite entrée is their Fish Tacos. We have tried fish tacos in a number of Houston-area restaurants and none compare with Hinze's. We order them with flour tortillas and prefer those to corn tortillas. The dining is very casual and friendly. Their fresh-baked pies are to die for!

I was torn between a 3 and a 4 star, but it is just an average restaurant. If you want good fried or grilled seafood with good portion size, this is the place. Their servers are always friendly. Their adult drink selection is limited.

For breakfast, migas are the best. Chilaquiles are excellent too. Served with retried beans and tortillas. For lunch or supper, the quarter order special combination nachos is good. Nice sized burgers and fries. Ladies special comes with tea, guacamole, a queso chip covered in yummy cheese and an enchilada. Large glasses of iced tea. Always prompt, cheerful service.

Wall-to-Wall Words and Milam Street Coffee Shop is located on the northwest corner of the courthouse square. Filled with a wide selection of used books, the store also offers specialty coffees, light breakfast selections, ice cream treats, and sandwiches. Open Monday to Saturday 7am to 6pm. A great place to browse for a book, have coffee in the morning, or get a sack lunch to take to the Riverside Park nearby. Ask about the monthly Java Jam event with live music and a covered dish buffet dinner supplied by the attendees. A nice stop while visiting the shops on the square.
