Vashon is a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. It covers an island alternately called Vashon Island or Vashon-Maury Island, the largest island in Puget Sound south of Admiralty Inlet. The population was 10,624 at the 2010 census and the size is 37 square miles (96 km). There are no bridges to connect the island with the mainland, and this contributes to the island's relative isolation and rural character.

New superb thai restaurant on vashon island set to officially open next weekend. went to a "soft opening". this place would stand out in any major market in the u.s......check it out!
We were celebrating my daughter's birthday, she made the reservation. It was such a nice place for a delicious dinner. I had Pad Thai, enjoyed the table side presentation, daughter had the special, Trout with the most amazing papaya salad, her dish was presented and cut table side also. We enjoyed the calm atmosphere, the great service, the piano player is a great addition to the restaurant too. Very clean and inviting. Make a reservation and enjoy a meal at May Kitchen. We will be back

We bike on Vashon regularly. Taking a couple of boat rides always makes you seem like you're on vacation, even during the week or on a Saturday. Biking around Puget Sound is hilly, Vashon especially so (it ain't for beginners, but beginners should strive to improve, as biking on Vashon is deluxe).
Snapdragon is awesome. I had the Moroccan vegetable stew with couscous, my wife and a friend of hers each enjoyed a bowl of the curried soup, and we all had the raspberry oat bars. My Americano was well made. Beer and wine selection appear to be very nice, though I've not tried drinking and biking together (probably not recommended).
Service is excellent, patient and courteous, even during zoo-ey times like the Strawberry Festival. I'm hoping to make a weekly sojourn from Tacoma over to Vashon, to help break up the week, and of course, to keep those legs in shape. Snapdragon will be a great destination.
Check out the outdoor seating in the back too. Missed that on our first visit. Very pleasant and quiet.

Last year in here buying hi calorie food, very good! Able to set outside devouring these tasty morsels while watching people. If this is what you desire, they are rich and good. As with EVERYthing on the island it is overpriced!

This historic Coffee Roasterie is a destination where family, friends & visitors from around the world meet among the aroma of fresh roasted coffee beans. Not only are we a coffee roasterie, but we are also home to an extraordinary selection of bulk foods, teas, herbs, local produce, groceries, and ready made foods.
The Roasterie is actually several business. The main section where you enter is the Roasterie, literally and figuratively.Attached are a book store, ice cream stand and, Minglement, the health food store and gift shop. It's welcoming to tourists (off islanders as we call them). But it's definitely a local resource and institution.
You'll probably see the group of old timers near the front door or on the bench; they may even be having the exact same conversation you heard them having last summer. You'll see neighbors popping in and catching up with the counter staff and you'll see many of us popping in for a sandwich and coffee.
They roast their own coffee and it's strong and good. Just so you know, if you want just coffee, grab a cup near the front register, pay for it and fill up on the porch. If you want an espresso, or other hot drink, go to, the espresso counter in back. If you want beer or wine, that's up front. Pay for sandwiches etc up front as well.

Located on Vashon Island near Seattle, Wa.
Vashon Island is a short ferry ride away for us so on a recent Saturday we hopped down to Point Defiance and caught the ferry over. Our first stop was brunch at the Hardware Store. It’s a great atmosphere filled with locals and day trippers (like us). We enjoyed great service and delicious food at this must-stop locale in the heart of Vashon. We’ve never been disappointed in the meals we’ve been served. After some shopping at neighborhood shops we headed back to the ferry to close out our little day trip.

For a glimpse into the friendly world of Vashon, stop in for a cup of coffee (from regular to cappuccino) and some neighborhood conversation. Although we only went by one morning, you could tell this is a beloved spot and everyone from the locals on a morning walk with the dog, or friends meeting up, love the Coffee Stand. On a cool rainy morning, nothing better to get you going than delicious coffee and a laugh and a cheerful good morning from the regulars!

Our dinner at Zombiez was not exactly post apocalyptic. We were hoping to have stumbled on a quaint restaurant with a deserved cult following. We found a restaurant in need of some basic management improvements.
In terms of food - of the many hamburger options, I think we chose incorrectly. The Bacon Cheeseburger was fine but uninspired. The Clam Chowder was straight out of a can. French fries - slightly undercooked. Food is served "picnic" style, without plates and utensils.
Service was so-so. The man working the counter seemed put out and wasn't particularly friendly.
I think Zombiez has a lot of potential, but it certainly falls short in its current state.

Love Cafe Luna for coffee, snacks, a place to go to work outside of my house. Good coffee drinks and tea drinks, cookies and other pastry and homemade soups and sandwiches. Good food. A great gathering place even if you don't know anyone.

For a tiny island with about 15 restaurants, it's odd that three of them are Mexican restaurants. Two of them are typical family mexican restaurants with so so food. Zamorana is more like a taqueria and very good. The tacos themselves are very good and a good value, people come to the island specifically for the fish tacos, but all the meats are great.
I almost never have the tacos though, because I can't get past the mulitias which are filling and delicious.
The staff are very friendly, and somehow manage to get food out quickly even when they are slammed on weekends.

Drive-through coffee place just north of town on Vashon Highway. Decent coffee and limited baked good options. Great if you are in a rush and need a coffee fix.
