I moved out of the Wheeling area in 1977, and, besides family, this place is probably the thing I miss most in the Ohio Valley. Their fish is unique. I've had 1000's of good fish sandwiches nationwide, but none compare to this one. The rest of the menu is only so-so, but the fish is worth coming back for. Expect to wait in line to place your order. They have no seating, so unfortunately you have to find seats out in the Market area - not well maintained, but with enough napkins, you can eat off a clean surface.

We have eaten here several times in the past and had good food, large portions, and a very reasonable price. we found the same true on our recent visit. We were seated immediately since we were past the dinner rush. A member of management, Makala, introduced herself and took our drink orders, since our waiter wasn't available. When she delivered our drinks, she took our food order and put it in. Next, she delivered the salads. When we finished our salad, a man took our empty dishes, without a word, and we wondered if he was our waiter. After about 35 mins., I flagged that man down and ask if he could check on our food. It was delivered immediately. I ask for a take home container and our check, since we were now pressed for time and I knew the kids wouldn't finish their meals. Both were delivered. I put a $50 gift card in the folder, but the waiter never came back to check on our meals. I again flagged him down to settle the bill. He brought us the paper to leave a tip, but didn't return our gift card that had about $15 remaining on it. Of course, he was MIA, I ask another server if we could see a member of management. Makala graciously took care of the matter, but had trouble finding our gift card. The server did finally choke up the card and we were comped for half the cost of our meal. We were satisfied, and took off for the parking lot. Before we reached our car the waiter came flying out asking up to sign the sales receipt, which isn't necessary for a gift card, but ask about his tip. He didn't earn a tip, Makala did all the work. I can't believe that this restaurant permits their servers to harass people like this, they probably are not aware. I can't tell you the waiter to avoid, since he never introduced himself, or really spoke two words to us.

WE were waiting in an attorneys office down the street from the Ceamery. The A/C was off and it was hot. I decided to go for something to drink. Just a couple of door down was the Cold Stone Creamery. What a delightful find. I had a chocolate milk shake that was great. Just thick enough and had enough chocolate.
Nice selection of ice creams. There were tables and chairs to sit at. I will definitely return.

A quick lunch stop in a developing area led me here. El Paso is a pearl among the many chains operating nearby. The dining area is spacious with booth, table, and bar seating.
These guys move quickly - no sooner was I seated when a giant basket of warm tortilla chips and a mini carafe of salsa arrived. I ordered a chimichanga platter and was surprised when it arrived before I had a chance to daydream or even check my phone!
The platter of chimis, smothered in guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and a half-slice of tomato, came with a side of beans or rice (diner's choice). The taste was just right and the chimis were packed with my choice of meat (chicken in one, beef in the other).
Bottom line is that my meal was fairly priced. I'll gladly bypass the chain restaurants again to make a return trip to El Paso.

We look forward to seeing YOU soon!
We were on the road to Oglebay Park for a family reunion and found this on Trip Advisor. Wow. The BEST burger I've EVER had. The perfect smallish size and cooked to perfection. We have been coming to Wheeling for 26 years and will definitely never come again without stopping at Avenue Eats.

Menu selections such as Nobody puts Baby in a Corner. Crepes of Wrath, and Wilbur goes to Venice are typical and will fuel your curiosity as well as tickle your appetite. Specializing in both savory & sweet crepes, Later offers specialty sandwiches, homemade soups and salads at affordable prices. A welcome surprise at this upscale cafe/bistro. WV Div. of Tourism award 2009 for unique eateries. Beer & Wine.
It's probably the best option in Wheeling if you're vegan. They now have the Impossible burger available, as well as their huge and beautiful salads, and their delicious tomato soup (gotta subtract the puff pastry on top; it's not vegan). Several things can be veganized if you do the subtraction (minus cheese, minus mayo, minus this, minus that....and I don't enjoy having to subtract things when I order). That's really the only reason I didn't give this place four+ stars. The decor is unique and fun, the food, limited as it is for those of us who eat cruelty free, tastes wonderful.
And it's located in a fun part of the city with an art center across the street, antique shops, several other things that give you more to do after you've enjoyed a good meal.

It was near 8:30pm and we had driven from Gettysburg to here and were ready for dinner. I wanted steak and had a perfectly grilled 8 oz. Sirloin with a baked Sweet Potato and Corn. My wife ordered their Grilled Salmon. They were both great. Server was attentive and came by when needed. Bathrooms were clean.

Took our 3- and 6-year-old grandkids to experience what Grampa never even had: Grill chefs putting on such an exciting show. The big flames scared them a bit, but the tossing of rice (to catch in your mouth), guzzling of "saki" (apple juice poured straight into our mouths) and general cooking display right there at our seats ("Tell him to stop putting food on the table!") was so expertly done. And the food was the most delicious!
Next time, maybe just the adults.

Cold beer and dead animals on the bar side. Great beer selection. Food is great. Everything from burgers, wings, salads to some fancier things like steak and seafood.
