The Rock Cafe has been located on Route 66 in Stroud, OK for more then 70 years. The diner still has its original grill. The current owner was used as inspiration for the character "Sally" in the Pixar/Disney film Cars. The cafe has been in many publications and television programs including Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We are open 7 days a week 7am until 8pm.
We stopped here on our stretch of Mother Road heading for Oklahoma City. This was one of our best stops on the entire route. Historically It has been around since 1939, but was razed by fire at one point in time. The stone facade and the cooking grill were all that remained, and was rebuilt. The stone front stands solid, and the cooking grill makes the best Buffalo Burgers I've ever sunk my teeth into. The rubber tire mulch entrance area welcomes all tired feet with it's soft spongy feel as you walk through the terrace to the doorway. As i mentioned, we order Buffalo Burgers , fries, and then shared a peach cobbler. Browse the souvenir shop, enjoy the food and hospitality. Highly recommended.

While traveling along I-44, we got off the exit in Stroud and found Five Star BBQ. From the outside, it smelled really good. I ordered a Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich for $7.99. I got seasoned French fries as a side and it was a great meal. My wife ordered a sirloin steak since we saw that they cut the steaks there, but her mouth got sore from trying to eat the thing. The kids had cheeseburgers and fries. All together, we spent $36.32 for the meal, to include drinks and taxes. We will certainly keep this place in mind for future trips between Tulsa and OKC.

We try to stop each time we pass through. They never disappoint. Close to home cooking - nice entrees at a very reasonable price. Sweet servers.

My sister lives close by so we decided to eat here one Friday night. They are only open on Friday and Saturday nights, I think from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. The décor is very nice, with cloth tablecloths and napkins. A great variety of music playing. We were seated right away. The dress by patrons varied from casual shorts to more dressy outfits. They have a smaller menu but the choices are steaks, pork chops, stuffed chicken breast, meatloaf and chicken piccata. Our group had pork chops, stuffed chicken and the chicken piccata. We shared our entrees with each other and none of us was disappointed. The entrees came with mashed potatoes ( with some lumps, I love the real mashed potatoes) and buttered carrots. We also got a side of the brussel sprouts. All the sides were fantastic. They have chocolate cake and bread pudding for dessert and on the night we were there they were trying out some chocolate and strawberry cronuts. We tried he cronuts and they were very good, but the best I thought was the bread pudding. It was the best I have had next to my mothers recipe. The prices of the entrees ranged from around 15 to 16 dollars and up. Some might think that is pricey but if you are on a budget, just share a meal and have water. You have to try this little known treasure.

The prices here are so cheap for quality fresh cooked Chinese food.. the lunch specials start at around $5... that is so cheap and food is great

The food was okay. We've been to this type of restaurant before but somehow we could not order from our vehicle so gave up and went to the drive through. Very slow service.

Fresh food, cocktails...a big town feel in a small town.
We stopped in 918 to check it out as it is the newest place in town. The menu was very impressive and quite tempting (for sandwiches) and I had a hard time choosing . It was quiet and clean. It took quite a while to get our food and my kids got antsy. When it came we were not disappointed as the sandwiches were delicious . I was a bit taken aback by the prices but would visit again.

I always know what the veggie choices are and what the food choices are. This Subway serves breakfast after 1100 which is awesome.

The attitude here is always like they don't care. I guess it's because it's the only easy-on-easy off restaurant for 100 miles. One of the things I dislike is that in OKC and in Tulsa Mickey-D's has cheap drink last but I paid $2.40 here
