This is a small unassuming cafe, but the ordinary-ness stops @ the door. Known for the coconut pie, the chef is world-trained and prepared some of the best food I had ever had. The salads were so fresh with dressings unmatched. I had the pork chop with potatoes & vegetables...delicious. My friend had the salmon with vegetables & mashed potatoes, again just outstandingly prepared & tasted delicious.

Excellent donuts and some kolaches. A favorite amongst the "men's coffee group" almost every morning!

This location was recently remodeled to reflect the franchise modern plastic look. Meals are ordered at the counter and brought to your table when prepared. Drinks are self-served via a fancy high-tech dispenser. Crispy Chicken Salad was excellent for a fast food eatery though eating it with a small plastic fork a bit arduous. Strawberry Sundae was the standard soft ice cream fare though the sauce was quite fresh.

This place has some of the best pizza and calzones I've had in Texas. Comparable with NYC and Chicago. They grow some of their own spices and the service is great. A little bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

The best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. All the food was good and I loved the acoustic guitar playing during Sunday brunch. The fees are donation based and help support a recovery center. Service was very good. Enjoyed this delicious, unique spot!

Stopped by to get a sliced brisket sandwich to go and it was great! All the food I saw looked very good and the smell inside the restaurant was great! Would differently go back!

We had 4 couples and orders took about 75 minutes to have all delivered to table. Three couples ordered crab cakes, but only one couple got them since they ran out. But they delivered crab cakes to 2 different customers that ordered after us. I like to setting and would like to support but the atmosphere gets killed by all the confusion

Stopped Friday after Thanksgiving. It was not full at all. Good setting. Inside and outside seating; free parking. Variety including salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, Mexican food, etc. Had a BLT and the bacon was exactly how I like it - crispy. Fixings for sandwiches are located in back of an old time car.

The sign of the restaurant shows El Mexicano but it's the same place. We've been here for breakfast and dinner. Everything we've had has been good. The chips are fresh and the hot sauce is hot (and tasty!) On my last visit I ordered one beef taco and one chicken taco. Both were very full and topped with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. It was plenty without the rice and beans. The prices are very affordable. We will continue to be regular customers

I almost always stop at Kay's when traveling between Smithville & Bastrop. NEVER been disappointed!!! She always has vegetarian options & a gluten free or two. Fresh baby green salads, lunch specials, to die for desserts. Will continue to stop every chance I get!!! Thanks, Kay for a delicious, healthy dining experience!!!
