We ate breakfast once and dinner three times at The Islander.
The food was very good. The servers were all very helpful and friendly. The prices were comparable to prices in the area.
We did have trouble with the way they check in people with reservations vs ones without. It’s very very unorganized!!
We had to return our flatware twice at one meal due to dirty knives.
I didn’t take pictures of all our meals but here are a few. It would be nice if they had a couple more heaters on the patio when it’s cool out in the evening.

We call it the “collective kitchen.” For the menus of 3800 Ocean are inspired not only by the local abundance of South Florida’s renowned crops that thrive under a hospitable climate, but by the regional flavors that stir the souls of our collaborative team of chefs. Each chef brings a new insight to the table: the comfort food favorites of New England; the fire and spice of Mexico; the Caribbean traditions of Jamaica; and the ageless classics of Long Island. Our own local abundance of fresh produce and seafood allows us to take the collective kitchen dining concept quite literally. Everything is made from scratch. Every taste evokes an emotional connection to a past culinary memory, or perhaps a future craving.
We stayed at the Marriott, where this restaurant is located. Others' reviews made us a bit leery, so we skipped dinner, but enjoyed cocktails and apps at the bar, and no fewer than three outstanding breakfasts out on the lanai.
Cocktails can be pricey; i.e. $22 for an Old Fashioned. But, I will admit, the bartender was cheerful and knew his craft, the Rye was top-shelf, and they use lots of fresh herbs and fruits for the beverages. We enjoyed Caesar Salads, Shrimp Tacos, and house white wine for dinner. All excellent.
Food and service for breakfast was terrific. The waitresses are so friendly and knowledgeable. Every item we ordered was outstanding. Juice fresh-squeezed, coffee tasty and hot, and the entrees just perfect. Blueberry pancakes, Huevos Rancheros, fruit platters, biscuits and gravy...it's all good here. We avoided the buffet altogether.
Sincerely recommended for breakfast and evening cocktails; you're on your own for lunch and dinner.

We were extremely surprised at the selection! So many different items to choose from. The appetizers were just scrumptious, main courses were large and delicious and the desserts were wonderful. I would say that Angel our server made the experience one to remember. He was extremely helpful to us when making our choices.

Where I’m from (and I cannot imagine many places in the US), the Peruvian/Sushi combination is not a common theme for restaurants. I loved the fried yucca with traditional huancaina sauce. Equally wonderful was the sushi. The rolls were a tad pricey, but not over the top. The service was great, and I enjoyed the atmosphere as well. This is a place you could easily drive past, but you shouldn’t!

We’re from Texas, so we have very high standards for Mexican food. The salsa was excellent. The nacho chips were a little thicker than I prefer. We’re also not used to having to pay for chips and salsa in Texas since restaurants provide them free.
I had the carne asada which was quite tasty, but I didn’t care for the rice with the corn that they added. I also prefer Charro beans to black beans.

After lunch and a walk on the beach my wife and I stopped by for some ice cream. The owner was chatty and friendly. Besides an ice cream shop it's also a boutique and coffee shop. The ice cream was good especially after being in the hot sun.

We were diving close by on Singer Island and luckily happened in for brunch. Service was great, atmosphere welcoming, and everyone loved their food and bevies. We were diving later that day so I passed on the tasty looking (and sounding) alcoholic accompaniments and stayed with the delicious basil lemonade. We ate on the lighter side, and everything was enjoyable and well prepared. As an example of the care each dish is given was that the cheese grits were a super meal all on their own.
We were delighted to have Beethoven (one of the owners) stop by the table and chat for a bit. He takes proper pride in the business he has built in a very short while. We'll certainly be stopping by the next time we're in town.

Italian with a French twist!
We had been recommended to this establishment several years, the only way to reserve is the old fashioned phone call. So multiple times we called last minute with no table available, surprisingly Christmas week we called and were able to secure a four top table.
There offering is a three course meal. Lots of enticing specials to go along with the menu selections. Several items are additional charge above the price fix cost but overall thought the price to quality was fair.
The noise level in the restaurant is a bit high, not sure if they can add some stuff to ease it a bit. The wait staff was abundant and fast, actually a bit too fast as we felt we were being moved along to finish faster than we wanted to.
My wife had the veal, she is very fussy, told them that but they said she would be pleased. Unfortunately too tough for her. My sister in law had pasta and a special salad which she loved. My son and I had special soup and the Florida grouper special which I loved both, he felt both a tad too salty.
Was looking forward to the dessert as I love profiteroles it the pastry which should be a bit more fluffy and tasty is my opinion, not bad but not great.
All in all a good experience, will return and suggest you all give it a try as well.

The 3 star rating was the result of extremely poor service. We had to chase down the server for everything. The food was probably up to 4 stars. Pretty good not great. The margarita was good tasting but short on tequila.
