Casual full service restaurant. CJ'S offers only freshly prepared food. We offer a full bar and at take out menu.
We stopped here for lunch with friends and the food and service were great. My sandwich was a "Juicy Lucy," two ground beef patties with melted cheese between, topped off with tender shredded beef brisket and onions. Very delicious along with their homemade chips and a local beer from Roy Pitz in chambersburg.

Staying at the Shippen Place Hotel we thoroughly enjoyed this coffee shop. As an avid tea drinker I so enjoyed the loose-leaf selection (two-tea-ed it several mornings) while my brother enjoyed his coffee lattes. Excellent breakfast sandwiches, muffins, freshly made donuts -all so yummy! Cool vibes, comfy chairs mixed in with tables. Highly recommend (plus staff, like Connor, so friendly & helpful even when super busy! )

While staying at the Shippen Place Hotel we found this ice cream shop while walking the main street of Shippensburg (a lady walking her dog, Charlotte, referred us.) Such a cool place with outdoor seating in a grassy grotto lit up with white lights. Ice cream sundaes incredibly decadent & delish! Definitely fun place for families & all those who enjoy really good ice cream!

In the Shippen Inn.
PROS:
* Great alcoholic beverage selection, including beer on tap
* Tasty food
* Warm, inviting atmosphere, great for a date or special occasion dinner
* Great service
* Cute patio out back with tables, would be great in nice weather.
CONS:
* Horrible small, cramped parking lot with tiny spaces.
* Room we had for our event was only semi-private (another room had to walk through ours to exit and we were cramped as it was).
* Pricey to have dinner here

We had a work function here where a room was reserved for our group of about 20. It took place on a Friday night, and the restaurant was busy. Inside it has an elegant feel, which is sort of out of place for a college town. But nonetheless, it has warm, dim lighting, soft music, and a well-put together wait staff.
Our room wasn't totally private, another room behind ours let out during our get together and those people had to funnel through our group to exit the building. They all had some level of embarrassment or guilt on their faces, I felt kind of bad for them. It wasn't their fault, just a poor lay-out.
The food was set up in a corner. It had good presentation, and the hot food was on burners to keep it at a safe temperature. The food was delicious. Appetizer type food is what we had, but everything I ate was great. Veggie tray was a bit lacking and small, but still contained nice, fresh veggies.
Only one gentleman was in charge of drinks, poor guy! But he did great. He remembered who ordered what, even though many of us were wandering around and had moved by the time he came back. He took orders as people filtered in, there really wasn't much of a wait. I chose a beer on tap, and there were lots to choose from which was fantastic.
They took away dirty plates and glasses frequently, but not so frequently that it was bothersome. They got us more plates when requested, and kept peoples thirst quenched. The service was quite good.
My main negatives which caused me to rate down are pretty simple. It's expensive for food that was good, but not divine. The parking lot is atrocious. Narrow, tight spaces, and a prime spot for a ding or dent. Don't bring a big SUV or pick-up. My sedan barely fit into a space, nearly touching both lines and I had to Tetris style my way into it because there's no room to really maneuver when the lot is as full as it was. Park along a street, you'll have better luck!
I'd give this place 3.5 stars, but I rounded up for the excellent service from the one poor young guy serving our drinks!

Goose Bros. Ice Cream specializes in hand-dipped premium homemade ice cream.
My personal favorite and hard-to-find regional flavor is grapenut and Goose Brothers has it! The portion was very generous for the price and quality was very good. There was a nice selection available; anyone is sure to find a flavor to their liking. I stuck...MoreThanks for the nice review! We're happy you enjoyed your visit. Come see us again!

We headed to this restaurant because it's casual, they have multiple vegetarian options, and they've been trained to serve gluten-free food safely. My dining companion has celiac disease, so food prep has to be meticulous.
And it was. Though I must say that we were disappointed that they were out of the vegetarian gluten-free "chicken" strips... We did enjoy their special tater tots.
Atmosphere: Our dining room featured many TVs showing sporting events. Ultimate fighting, not a great thing to watch while eating.

If you are travelling through PA and happen to stop ask where Diffy's Family Restaurant is. If you don't ask you will never find it or be able to enjoy the food and friendly people there. It was recommended to us at our hotel and so glad it was!. We got spaghetti and meatballs. A huge portion and meatballs were nice big size. All homemade and great prices. Down home atmosphere and many regulars I could tell because they all knew each other.

PROS: fresh food; made to order; easy to eat healthy here; quickly made; great for catering; call ahead ordering
CONS: grilled chicken for salad not the best; ordering inside is a little confusing the first time; uncomfortable seating for dining in
Review:
I'd had Kathy's Deli for catered events for work before, and went there for a work meeting one afternoon for lunch. It's a small place, but most people seem to get food to go. If you do want to sit inside and eat, you'll be sitting on hard, iron lawn furniture that is not at all comfortable, so plan to keep it brief!
The food here is very fresh, and completely made to order. Ordering inside is a little confusing the first time you go there, but there's usually an employee at the register to help you out. You order on paper and hand it in, then they make it.
I love the salads, you build your own. Many choices, and you can add meat for an extra charge. I didn't care for the grilled chicken, it had an odd texture like it was processed rather than pieces of breast meat.
Other than that, all of the toppings I've had on the salads were excellent. Fresh fruit is available when in season.
Their sandwiches and wraps are also yummy, and I've heard their ultimate grilled cheese panini is amazing.
They do not serve fried, greasy food. No fries or anything like that. You can eat fairly healthy here.
Overall, a good place for lunch or snack. Good location just outside of Shippensburg.

I was passing through on my way home and just found this place on my own. I ordered a Stromboli and it was very good. It was filled with the perfect combination of meat cheese and vegetables and it was cooked to perfection. If I am staying in Shippensburg again I will return to brothers.
