Scranton, at the center of the Lackawanna River Valley and nestled between the Pocono and Endless Mountains, is surrounded by nature. Just ten miles from the city is Lackawanna State Park, where visitors are welcome to sail or ice skate across the 198-acre Lackawanna Lake. But there's no need to leave the city to enjoy the great outdoors. Nay Aug Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, and includes a zoo, a museum, two Olympic sized swimming pools and a great gorge topped with a treehouse.

A Little Pizza Heaven - Cozy Atomosphere
Decided to try this little place. What a surprise. Not only was it a great experience but the food was wonderful. They made room for us because all the tables were reserved. Owners and staff were extremely helpful and gracious. Great Italian food. Found a new place when we feel like eating Italian

Went there for Christmas Eve dinner - 8 people. Everyone really enjoyed their dinners. Service was good. Sammy was running around as usual making sure everything was working OK. And it was. Good food, good service, friendly people wanting to make the experience a good one.

Visited Posh on a recent trip to visit our kids at the U of S. From the moment we entered to when we left the entire meal experience was excellent. We were promptly seated and after a few minutes the owner came over to welcome us and introduce himself. We proceeded to order wine (very good selection at different prices) and a few shareable appetizers. The cauliflower bites and crudités were excellent. All of us also enjoyed the wonderful pretzel bread bites. Very tasty and unique. All 5 of us ordered different mains from osso bucco to filet mignon to lobster special to ahi tuna and chicken. Everything was served expeditiously but not rushed. Presentation was wonderful and more importantly very good. Also the portions are very large; definitely good leftovers. We also ordered a few desserts to share which were outstanding. Through out our dining experience another manager checked up on us to see how things were going. Overall this first visit to Posh was memorable, with great service, and more importantly excellent food. Do not hesitate to try Posh or go back for another worthy dining experience. I know we’ll be back.

Owned and operated by the Cooper family since 1948 Coopers has become a landmark in Scranton PA. More than just a restaurant think about us as an interesting dining tour experience, once you are here you’ll enjoy everything: the menu, the staff, the decor, and of course, the food. Nothing is Ordinary!
This restaurant has been noted for their seafood bisque soup. They offered a shrimp chipotle bisque the day we visited. We ordered both which were excellent. I also tried the Asian salad which was also very good! Would recommend to anyone wanting a reasonably priced great tasting meal. We will be back.

This restaurant is always welcoming and the specials are generally tasty and filling. We have used this many times for business dinners, the only complaints being the tuna not rare enough and too few quality wines on offer. It is only small and the bar area can get crowded, but the staff are convivial and give everyone plenty of attention. It is a favourite.

We decided to try this place! So after a 2 hour drive we arrived of find a small quaint little family restaurant. The staff is very friendly and speak excellent English. The decor is kinda romantic and dark perfect for date night. The food on the buffet was good and the salad bar had a nice variety. We choose to do the Rodizio which has a price of 39.95. The price is kinda expensive but having the guys bring the meat right to the table and carve it fresh for you was a neat experience. Not something we would do every week but it was a nice new experience. The meats were all excellent and tasted wonderful. Then we finished off our meal with a banana crepe. Which was amazing!

The Backyard Ale House provides a casual laid back atmosphere. We feature one of the areas largest selections of Micro, Craft, & Import beer menus.
I confess to central PA's condescension about NEPA (northeast PA to you outsiders...), so the only reason that we stopped for lunch in Scranton was because we couldn't wait any longer for lunch on our way to New York.
Well, life lesson #345 is Do Not Assume: downtown Scranton was lovely with a variety of interesting restaurants. We just happened to pick the Backyard Ale House and it was a great choice. Our waiter, Tim, was really fun, and the food - bar fare with a nice twist - was excellent. The place is basically a sports bar, but the food and service certainly rise above that. So if you are in the mood for a casual meal with good food, give Backyard Ale House a try.

I'm used to Kosher delis with huge menus that are normally so busy you have to wait for a table. This is a small Kosher deli that does gave a good selection of food but to me it's just average. I had falafel that was very dry and the pickle was a bit soggy. On the other hand the pastrami sandwich was good. We were just passing thru do we stopped to get a quick bite. All in am the food wasn't terrible bit it wasn't anything to write home about.

WE have gone past this place for years without even knowing it was there. Finally stopped in last night for dinner. Pleasantly surprised. Loos like what you would imagine a Mexican restaurant would look like....brightly colored booths and Spanish music in the background. Had the combo with a beef taco and enchilada. Very flavorful. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs.
On the neg. side, I wanted to try fish tacos, but they were not offered as part of a combo. I was not sure I wanted to order 3 fish tacos made with tilapia. Typically, fish tacos are made with cod or flounder. Also, I asked our waiter if they had some "spicy" salsa to go with our chips since I enjoy the spicier things. Only until our bill was presented that I found out that this itty-bitty serving of spicy salsa cost me $1.29. I've never been charged for another salsa flavor , ever. Disappointing. So, just be forewarned about these quirks. Don't let them dissuade you from trying this place.

We were pleasantly surprised when a customer recommended this restaurant in downtown Scranton. A member of the Luger family, renowned for great steakhouses, delivers nicely. In a rather spartan atmosphere, the quality of food is stellar and reasonably priced. Don't expect world class service (although our service was very good, just a little more like a lower end establishment) with fancy place settings and orchestrated entree delivery, but be ready to enjoy a wonderful beef experience. I would definitely recommend this for any dinner, business or personal in Scranton. Worth going out of your way for.
