We specialize in fresh home-made sandwiches, soups, specialty drinks, baked goods and hand-dipped ice cream. Bakery goods and breads are baked fresh daily in our own oven.
We visited at Christmas and walked into an old building with a fire burning in the fireplace. How awesome is that! Very homey with buckets of candies, antiques, unique hand lotions, clothing and something for everyone. They were offering samples of cheese and hot cider,...MoreOOOOHHHH, We enjoy our customers so much, and are happy you had such a good experience in our store. Thank you for coming in. We do hope you will return as soon as you can. We look forward to it.

We are a small family friendly "specialty coffee" shop. Quality coffee, espresso, teas, and smoothies are always served. We offer a variety of bakery items, some coffee focused items, and fresh roasted coffee for purchase. Customer focus and caring for everyone is our goal...Every customer...Every time.
While walking by on a weekend afternoon I saw two people coming out of this shop with iced coffees. I am not an afternoon coffee drinker but the drinks looked great. I went in and had a nice conversation with the baristas. I ended up ordering a sugar free latte which was fantastic. I love sugar free and often have difficulty finding options. The flavoring options and choices were clear on the menu board. It was a bit pricy for the size but well worth every penny. The latte was honestly one of the best I have ever had. Perfection in Helen.

So, we are coffee geeks, and we try to visit local coffee shops when we travel. We recently vacationed in Helen, Georgia, and on the way to see the Stovall Mill Covered Bridge we noticed this spot. We stopped in, and the shop is very cute on the outside and the inside. The crazy part is no one ever acknowledged we were in the building when we went in. We walked around, we looked at merchandise, we noticed the selection of coffee... we even walked up to the counter, and no one said a word to us. We were inside for about 10 minutes and not a word to us. Pretty turned off by that, so we left and went back to Jumpin' Goat Coffee Roasters in Helen where we had an amazing experience the day before.

Homemade fudge and candy
We tried the dark chocolate fudge and it was delicious. Friendly staff. Better than Hansel and Gretel's fudge.

Fine Thai dining and Sushi Bar in the heart of Charming Helen GA
Slightly away from Main Street this hidden gem offers sushi and Thai food. We enjoyed appetizers and the Thai portion of the menu. They even offer small plates for sampling. Pad Thai was a little heavy on the fish sauce. Ask for less if you are sensitive. The shrimp and scallops with curry was delicious. The server was efficient and courteous. A very nice experience.

Please be aware that Bernie's Restaurant is a small family operated business. We do have seasonal hours as well as certain occasions that Bernie's Restaurant is CLOSED to the general public for small/private functions both on and off premises - we don't like to disappoint anyone who would like to dine with us. "Imagine" a quaint southern cottage, nestled in the hills of beautiful north Georgia. A peaceful setting, delicious fresh food, and a warm friendly atmosphere. The tables are set with linens, sterling silver and fresh flowers to enhance your dining experience. Bernie's is about the lost art of personal service.
What a great find. This little restaurant doesn't catch your eye when driving by and without the recommendation of our lodge owner, we wouldn't have stopped in. But, so glad we did. A great menu selection and every aspect of our choices was fabulous -- just cooked to perfection. The owner took the time to stop by our table and share a few stories with us which added to the charm. And after our meal, the chef also came by. We look forward to our next culinary experience at Bernie's.

A small shop with a good variety of packaged coffees. Also has a couple of blends ready to drink. The Southern pecan roast brings an understated pecan taste which does not overwhelm the coffee. It can be enjoyed on the covered porch overlooking the Chattahoochee river.
The staff is always friendly and has a sense of humor. Conspicuously posted is a sign on which reads "unattended children will be given caffeine and a free puppy". Sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch and watch the cars go by and get a picture petting the goat before you leave.

This great restaurant is in conjunction to a great little gift shop called The Village Peddler. You can eat in or out in a charming courtyard or on the porch. Wait staff are very friendly as the food is down home good! We are a retired couple but love to bring our children and grandchildren as well as friends. Very relaxing and price is very moderate!!
While in Helen, GA, a quaint tourist town with Alpine trappings, I happened upon a restaurant called The Meeting Place, toward the end of the main road.
When I got home, I went to TripAdvisor reviews and was disturbed by one which described the military and Christian decorations. The people identified themselves in their review as "gay", and said they left because they didn't think they would be welcome there.
I reject bigotry; I doubt if these people were wearing tags saying "I'm gay", but if they had, there are several Christian denominations that not only accept homosexuals, but also ordain gay clergy. For these people to pre-judge the people who worked there or the owners of this restaurant is just wrong!
I , too, saw some Christian items-a cross, a welcoming prayer plaque, and a couple other things, but I can appreciate someone who is not ashamed of their faith.
I saw a flag and some military service mementos. I, for one, do not condemn people who serve their country, nor those who display the flag. It is the symbol of the country that gave these people their freedoms. I also saw many other decorations and wall hangings, so there was a mix of visuals.
What I do detest is someone who seeks to do harm to others; who attempts to incite others to hate people they've never met. The reviewers, in my mind, were the ones who are clearly prejudiced, not the people at the Meeting Place
It's too bad for them; I'm 69 years old, and I can truly say that The Meeting Place had the best biscuits I have ever tasted!

We ate here for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The Reuben was outstanding and the Broccoli Cheese soup was super yummy! They had live music on the porch and a cool Bloody Mary bar. The store itself was adorable with pottery, jewelry, and art for sale. I highly recommend this place for lunch if you are ever in the area.
