Situated ideally at the center between the Lincoln National Forest to the south and the northeast and the Valley of Fires State Park to the northwest, Ruidoso is a still-sleepy mountain town despite its recent growth and popularity with tourists. The majestic Sierra Blanca towers over the city, tempting snow bunnies to the slopes of nearby Ski Apache. The race track at Ruidoso Downs and the casino at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort promise chance and adventure of a different sort.

Great empanadas filled with apricot, cherry or apple. The breakfasts aren’t as good as last time we visited about 2yrs ago. We do not like the red potatoes they fix. Bread for toast is great. Eggs were prepared good. We preferred the Log Cabin for breakfast.

I visited this lovely little coffee house recently when I visited an old friend in Ruidoso. My friend hosted a special event there. It was a wonderful venue for her event. The owners went all out to assist with appropriate food and libations for the event. A cucumber martini was one of my favorite things. A lovely treasure in a lovely setting. Great place to go. Food was wonderful.

Enjoyed the coffee, but the gluten free banana bread crumb cake took the cake! Delicious and generous sized slice big enough to share. Good variety of food items with some gluten free available and many coffee options.

I love this place! Every trip to Ruidoso includes a trip to Village Buttery. Everything they serve is unique to them, delicious, and fresh. The desserts are yummy. Inside the building is small, and full at lunch. There is room outside in the sunshine if you wish. If eating deliciously healthy is for you so is the Buttery! The menu is on the wall behind the lady taking the orders, so check it out before you get ready to order. If you give it a try, you will return!

The address is wrong... this store is located farther down the street... we ended up going to the Sweet Retreat which is in Suite A at this address.... it was excellent. If the owner reads this perhaps they will correct the address... and next time...MoreHey there! I've tried to change the address several times but it keeps going back to the one I started out with. I've contacted trip advisor several times also to no avail. But I'm glad you had a good experience anyway:)

Excellent burger and fries. Since so good there is a line. They need more seating. Almost fight over tables. Go early if you can. We stood in line at 1:20 pm.

Michael J's is a collaborative effort between many friends and food lovers from around the globe. We can say that because we appreciate so many sources and learn all the time about what makes a restaurant truly successful. We strive to serve excellent food accompanied by fine wine to go with our offerings. We do NOT serve PIZZA!
This was a special occasion, to end all special occasions. Michael J's opened on Sunday December 31st for an extraordinary evening of fine dinning. This was a reservation only event and the menu topped the finest restaurants I have ever experienced, from coast to coast....MoreLynn, thank you so much for this glowing review -- we so appreciate you and Mike!!

First recommend making a reservation. This is a Brew Pub with a good menu for dinner. Downstairs is pub atmosphere but there is a dining room upstairs and a covered porch patio. It was crowded even for early Tuesday so we had to sit downstairs which was okay but a little noisy. Our waiter Jeremy was attentive and friendly. We started with the French Onion Soup then for our main course the Maplewood Salmon. Presentation was attractive and cooked to order. We thought the portions were just about right and not too large. The Salmon tasted great so would most definitely recommend it. Parking is free but limited when busy.

Had breakfast here because I was craving traditional pancakes. This place has them! Plus waffles, omelettes, biscuits & gravy, chicken fried steak, grits, sandwiches, soups. Friendly staff, nice dining area and good portions for reasonable price.
