Kauai’s South Shore is home to some of the country’s best beaches—for swimming, diving and all sorts of water sports. If sunbathing on a gorgeous beach isn’t relaxing enough, try a spa (where many treatments incorporate local ingredients). And if you’re in Poipu for a romantic escape, splurge on an oceanview room—the sunsets are spectacular.

This place is a tiny place where you order in a window and get your food shorty after. They have a couple benches along the building you can sit at. We took ours to the beach. We had Asada burrito, asada bowl, chicken tacos and chicken quesadilla. They are very generous with their meat. Everyone loved them. It’s a popular place and can have a line. Stay it moved pretty quickly and is worth it!

Most of us look for a convenient Starbucks during our travels. This Starbucks should be on your list when in Poipu, Kauai. Nothing out of the ordinary here, just good service and regular product offerings. We visited several times during our week stay at the Marriott at Waiohai.

Loco Coco is a food stand serving delicious, all-natural shaved ice topped with local fruit.
This is a shave ice shack that is almost great. It has delicious sauces on the shave ice, but they don't have the balance of flavor and texture with the ice cream at the bottom quite perfect. It is as good as any shave ice that we had on Kauai, but not as good as Vintage shave ice on Oahu.

Little Fish Coffee Poipu is a purveyor of specialty coffee. We offer high quality, locally sourced and roasted coffees, amazing espresso drinks, healthy smoothies, acai bowls loaded with fresh Kauai fruit, bagels, sandwiches, paninis and salads. We have two Kauai locations for all your coffee needs: Hanapepe and Poipu.
My husband walked here from the Kiahuna Plantation condos. It's just a cute bungalow next to the road-- also next to surfboard rentals. We enjoyed coffee and egg with cheese bagel sandwiches. The offer covered picnic tables.

Papalani Gelato Franchising Company is a family-owned and operated franchisor of handmade Hawaiian style gelato, coffee, and chocolate shops which is dedicated to sharing its hand-crafted artisanal Hawaiian inspired gelato, coffees, and chocolates throughout the state of Hawaii and beyond. Many customers rave that Papalani™ has the best gelato (Italian style ice cream) and best chocolate in the nation.
We go looking for good gelato. Papalani Gelato was good but not eye-rolling awesome. Still, who can complain about eating tasty gelato with your honey in Kauai?!

Aloha! We serve freshly made Juices, Acai bowls, smoothies, wraps, sandwiches and parfaits. Located in Kukuiula store next to Da Crack, Outfitters and Seasport Divers. Just look for the yellow submarine. Mahalo!!
Yes the sticky buns and shave ice around the island are wonderful. But sometimes you need a healthy alternative. The juice, smoothies and acai bowls at Anake's are wonderful! The pictures other people have posted don't lie. It's hard to choose which one to pick and no matter what you pick, you won't be sorry. Must try!! It's about $8-9 per person.

Family owned and operated Cafe. We serve only the best food and Kauai Roastery Coffee. Our menu features organic, local, fresh ingredients like Makaweli Beef, Anahola Granola, Kauai Roastery Coffee, and all the local fruit and produce we can find. Eat with aloha!
Banana pancakes with macadamia nuts and 100% maple syrup, they were soooo good. The Hawaiian link sausage was also a great change from what I eat in Virginia. Pleasant outdoor seating, and a brother/sister team that gave excellent service. We plan to go back.

If you are looking for fresh caught fish and outstanding service with a great atmosphere, search no more. This is our 11 day here and this is by far the best restaurant we have found on the island. We were greeted by very friendly hostesses and serviced at the bar by a great tender Bethany, then handed off to the best waitress in the world, Kimberly. Add to this the live island music played on stage and you couldn’t ask for a better night. We will be back!

After reading all the great reviews decided to walk over from Koala Landing Resort. As many reviewers indicated, it's in a small, local grocery store that we thought was cool - but others might be freaked out. Makai Sushi is basically a walk up stand and it's made in front of you. Two people were behind the counter - a gal who was quite pleasant and a guy making the bowls. Perhaps my expectations from all the reviews were too high as my husband and I both thought the prices were high and the food average. $ 16 dollars for a Gorilla bowl at a walk up stand in a grocery store. Glad we tried Makai Sushi but don't plan on going again during our next visit to Kauai - will try Da Crack which is right next door. Do regret not trying the Poke bowls from the grocery store, Ishihara, in Waimea - heard their food is great at good prices - also on the hit list next trip.

Embrace the tempting combination of contemporary Hawaiian cuisine served in a unique Hawaiian setting. Thatched-roof bungalows float above a koi-filled lagoon at the base of a waterfall to create romantic ambiance. Inspired by local ingredients and the rich culinary traditions of Hawaii
Lovely restaurant in a lovely hotel on a lovely island. Food is excellent but you will pay for it. We enjoyed sitting right above the koi fish pond and throwing some bread to them. There is an obvious reason why they are huge. One entre we had was lobster and the other the special of pink salmon. One glass of wine was the cost of one retail bottle for us. It was chilly the night we were there and the staff offered blankets and a sweater which was great. It was a good evening.
