A good restaurant in a rather restaurant-starved area in rural Illinois.
I called the day before and made reservations. We arrived early were promptly seated. There were about 8 couples when we arrived and more came during our dining experience. We were greeted by our server and promptly brought us 2 glasses of water. He took our drink orders and gave us the dinner specials. My wife ordered Spinach Lasagna and I ordered the Beef Bourgeois. They also had New England Clam Chowder as the soup of the day. There house dressing is very good, it is an Italian dressing with tomato puree mixed in. The lasagna was a very large piece and my wife ate about half it, my dinner was slightly larger than a serving but was adaquate. We also shared a piece of Tirmasui which was very good. The down side to the whole meal and we laughed about it on the way home was we were charged for the 2 glasses of WATER, that they poured from a pitcher and they were approximately 6 oz glasses glad we didn't ask for refills. CHARGING FOR H20 ON THE BILL IS NOT COOL UNLESS YOU ARE DRINKING A SPECIALITY WATER...

Enjoyed a cup of coffee an donuts on a Saturday morning. Lots of people visiting. Cakes and other sweets look like they would be worth a try too. Lots of people on a Saturday morning of holiday weekend.

Whether it's a day trip from Chicago or a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big city, Oregon is less than 2 hours away from Chicago and offers many outdoor activities. Its a great place to visit. The Steakpit offers amazing hospitality and awesome food. Specializing in steaks cooked over an open charcoal pit. We also offer a fresh fish of the week. We have a different fresh fish flown in every week. (Call and ask what our fish of the week is, if you are a seafood lover) The Steakpit has been a staple in the community for over 3 decades. We are known for our steaks but our menu has a lot more than just steaks to offer.
My husband had his usual ribeye - always perfect. He loved the 3 cheese mashed potatoes that was one of the options instead of a baked potato. We ordered the escargot (they are to die for!). I just had the salad bar... everything was well stocked and fresh. Our friends had a rib eye and a tenderloin - both said they were perfect. They also ordered the Alligator appetizer. That was very good... I've had alligator before that was tough, this was NOT tough and had a nice flavored breading.
Service is excellent. We need to go back more often!

We ordered some pizza to eat at the cabins at the nearby state park. The pizza was made quickly, and was quite good. It's not the best pizza you'll ever eat, but it was very filling and tasty. The sauce is sweeter, and there was plenty of cheese. Good choice for our needs.

food was what I expect from a chain, not as good as a year ago, we ate both breakfast and dinner here, they have no dinner menu all they serve is sandwiches, burgers, etc. service was slow, just barely passable. Dinner was pricey for what you get

The menu is above average for a drive-in diner. I have found the food quality to be above average as well. The ice cream treats are the highlight. The atmosphere is what really makes the visit fun; there are all kinds of nostalgic photos and memorabilia on display. It was refreshing to patronize a locally owned and managed establishment as opposed to the mega-chain restaurants found everywhere. It is not open during the winter.

This is a great place to hang out with your friends for a few beers. The wait staff is always really friendly. There's a nice patio as well. Unfortunately, the food tastes like the prepackaged/frozen stuff you can buy from a box store. Not my favorite, but that's not why I go there!

Authentic Mexican food- chips n salsa, guacamole, tacos, burritos, chimichangas, and more
Very nice place to take your family for Mexican cuisine. Order at the front register and the very nice waitress will bring you great food at a reasonable price. Taco bar to dress you "naked" tacos or taco salad. They bring you the meat and shell you dress with a variety of toppings. The guacamole is wonderful! We had homemade corn chips tacos, burrito and quesadillas. All dishes were super! We highly recommend this place!

This cozy restaurant serves great breakfast. I recommend the omelets and french toast. The pancakes are huge! Coffee is continuously brought around for refills. Atmosphere is welcoming. The interior could use some updates. Service is friendly and typically prompt. Prices good/reasonable.Great small town restaurant.
