North East is a borough in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States, 14 miles (23 km) northeast of Erie in the northernmost part of the state, and the county's northeastern corner. Fruit growing was an early economic endeavor, and is still to this day, as this is a popular area for especially cherries and grapes. There is an annual Cherry Festival in the summer and an annual Wine Country Harvest Festival in the fall. It contains one college, Mercyhurst North East. The population was 4,294 at the 2010 census, down from 4,601 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Erie Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the northernmost town in Pennsylvania. The name "North East" seems to be a misnomer since the borough is located in extreme northwestern Pennsylvania, but it is so named for its northeastern-most location within Erie County.

Twice a year my sister's and I travel to the Erie region to visit the gravesite of family and we always make a point of going to the Freeport for dinner.
We first went there 4 years ago on the recommendation from someone in the chamber of commerce.
They are always busy on Friday night's so I would highly recommend making reservations.
The food portions are always generous for the price.
The stuffed scrod is always a winner.
My only issue is the last time we walked in, 5 women, we were stared at by what I assume was a local to the point of making all of us uncomfortable.
Had it lasted much longer i would have said something.
The employees seem to know many of the customers and it's a bit unnerving to be made to feel like outsiders imposing on them.

I think the slogan for dairy queen is the ice cream with a twist on top. The night I stopped, the cone was not twisted...it leaned horribly to one side and when I said something to the child who served it..i got this haunted glare back..like dude you got your cone. I decided no point in talking to the wall. No adult supervisor was on site.

We are a trending coffee shop, open 7 days a week, located in historic North East. We roast all of our coffee on-site each day, with our menu items homemade and prepared daily. Lots of merchandise is available for sale in the market, free wi-fi for customers, with free open mic on Sundays. Come check us out!
It is the only place to get a good cup of coffee in North East. The sitting area is quiet and tranquil. Parking can be a problem, and their hours are not the best for those trying to get a cup before work.

We offer a progressive and modern cuisine, and have an unparalleled wine bar and artisanal cocktails. Although the atmosphere is wonderful the portions and the prices at this little home town place is just a bit high for most people.

Johnny B's is a good choice for consistently good ( not great ) food. It is clean, service is good and wait is short. I go there often. There is an absence though of anything really extraordinary on the menu. Nothing to really knock your socks off, but I do like it there for it's consistency of good and reliable food and service.

In the area for our work, we stopped for a later dinner on our way back to hotel. Nothing fancy here, but we were cordially greeted and seated, waited on with warmth and efficiency. Portions were bigger than we expected. I had grilled veggie quesadillas with chicken and had enough for the next day. My husband's French dip sandwich was delicious; We shared onion rings which were good and came with ranch dressing. It seems to be popular with locals; the bar was friendly and lively. We were able to sit a little apart in a dining room. Parking is tight but we managed. We had a good time.

We saw the reviews for Bova's on Trip Advisor and were looking for something local and decided to give it a try. We found the restaurant just as the map showed it, parking on the side of the building. Don't get confused as you walk to the front of the restaurant the door on the right is the entrance or if you want be like a local and go through the back door just up the ramp. The menu has quite a variety and something for everybody, they offer up a full bar, local wines and other varieties. We will definitely be back if we are traveling through this part of the country again.

While venturing within this segment of Pa., my lady companion, noticed this place, and asked to stop in. Here, for the first time, I was able to locate a place which serves Penn State Ice Cream. A bit pricy for what falls to third place against Hershey brand and Perry's retaining #1. Here, there's ample parking for say 20 vehicles. There's also a soft serve offering citing Dole Brand flavoring...The menu is quite the norm for this type of place. However, as the season comes to a close for these types of places, it's tough to properly access beyond their ice cream. Nevertheless, in the new year...I hope to try once again.

On our anniversary we went to Noosa for dinner on a sunny late summer evening. Too chilly for the outside but we plan to come back when it is warmer. The patio seating is plentiful and the view!!! OMG! Our sever was fantastic so professional and patient with us enough to take our picture with Lake in background. We had small plates first being the Ahi Tuna tacos. Very tasty with fresh ingredients. The wild mushrooms on French that has a garlic with a sherry gave a tangibles to balance the other flavors. Lomo Sal ta do was hard to explain due to all of the flavor bursting from every bite. If this was not a public place I would have licked the plate. Roasted potatoes and cherry tomatoes with melt in your mouth beef. My wife had blackened salmon with a vegetable mash that yes folks it was filling it was flavorful it was heaven. Finally we are not related to anyone at Noosa!! Go here people we will be back!

New Harvest is a non-smoking, family owned & operated restaurant beside the Holiday Inn Express (can easily walk across the hotel parking lot from one to the other, however, they too have their own parking out front). They have a handicap entrance and are family-friendly. They have full service bar with a couple of TVs. They also have a separate area with a pool table and dart boards. Lunch & dinner are served daily. They can also host parties and wedding showers in their private dining room. They have seating in their family dining area, in the bar and outside. We happened to chose the bar area on the Monday evening that we stopped in, liking its ambiance and the sports on TV. Our server was excellent. They were not crowded and she was doing double duty as the bartender and waitress in that bar of the business. Their menu was not necessarily extensive but had more than enough choices for us. We went simply with veggie quesadillas and a large chef salad. My partner found the quesadillas very tasty, with the shells crisp and a nice portion of cheese and veggies within. My salad was fresh with hard boiled eggs, plentiful meats and cheese. After a long day on the road, New Harvest met our needs for a good meal and a few drinks before we crashed in the Holiday Inn next door. We would definitely have no hesitation to return on our next trip through this area.
