We found Randy's strictly by accident while traveling to Ft. Worth for a wedding and what a great place to stumble across. Barbecue is one of my "must try" things wherever we go and Randy's does it as well as it can be done. Our table had ribs and a burnt end sandwich and both were second to none. The ribs had the right smoke, seasoning and tenderness. Burnt ends are an art form if done correctly and Randy's is an artist. The atmosphere is that of a standard order at the counter BBQ joint. If you are passing through New Boston, Texas, hungry or not, stop and sample what Randy's Smokehouse is serving up. They do pig and brisket the right way.

It has become a tradition with me to get a Blizzard at a DQ at least once per road trip. We were nearing our destination and stopped at the easternmost one about 7pm and they had no ice cream! We went up an exit or two to the next one, and had to wait approx. 20 minutes while they refilled the machine to make the Blizzards. There was still a regular flow of customers, and they were serving food, so it wasn't closing time.
I have to say, I've never (and I've been in plenty) been told there was on ice cream, or had to wait while they made some. I have a feeling both stores are under the same ownership.

I have worked in New Boston for 7 years and most weeks I treat myself to lunch at Shirley's, usually on Fridays. Best fried catfish fillets you've ever eaten. Best home made yeast rolls. Best down-home Southern cooking you will find anywhere, and I should know because I eat lunch there every Friday. Her bread-pudding will make you think you've died and gone to heaven! Open for lunch only. Get there by 12 noon if you want the fish...it goes fast!

I stopped by Maria's Tex-Mex Restaurant recently because of the reviews on Tripadvisor. However, since I spent time in Mexico, I would classify their food as more Mexican than Tex-Mex because their food is very authentic.
They offer an extensive Mexican menu to their customers. Of course, they serve several types of Nachos and Quesadillas as well as stuffed jalapenos and hot wings. I love that they offer 17 Lunch Specials which are served from 11 am - 3 pm on Monday thru Friday and are reasonably priced from $6.99 to $8.99 per order. Maria's offers a wonderful selection of Dinners like their El Gordo Dinner which are priced from $7.99 to $10.99 per order. They also offer 3 Maria's Specialties: Carne Asada, Steak Picado and Beef or Chicken Fajitas for one or two persons. I had the Pollo Guerrero which was posted on the board on the wall before entering the restaurant. It was good and hopefully will be included in their Menu. Parents will be pleased to note that they do offer a limited (5 items) menu for Kids 12 years old and under and is priced at $4.99!
Business Hours: Monday - Saturday 11 am - 9 pm Sunday 11 am - 3 pm
Travelers Tip: Maria's is worth leaving Interstate 30 in order to have a good Mexican meal. Since it ls located in downtown New Boston, there is a nice flea market across the street and a resale shop down the street. There is also Music Country USA concert venue nearby.

Not many choices of dining restaurants in for area, mostly fast food.
I was looking for a restaurant that severed cocktails.
Staff friendly, I could not ask for a more attentive, friendly server!
The restaurant was not very clean, lighting was too bright, the bar area was sloppy, furniture outdated.
Place defiantly needed a make over!
Food ok, great service.

As s local I've eaten here a few times. One of the few restaurants you will eat at with a smoking section. Decent food, nice people but be prepared to taste tobacco in the air.

Old fashioned burgers and fries in a friendly family atmosphere.
Was a little surprised to find the outlet in a storage unit, they were very creative in doing it nice lights etc. packaging the burger could be a little better just sorta thrown into wrapped paper without doing it properly. The taste was pretty good much better than any of three fast food burgers you will find for sure. Would I go again yes I would.

This Denny's Restaurant just opened in New Boston about three months ago. It's at the US 82 exit of I-30, about two miles west of New Boston. It's in a large Exxon travel stop, that includes a Mexican food stand, called "Go Loco", and there's a fudge shop, etc. On this visit I tried their Senior Tilapia meal, which gave me the choice of two sides. I had mashed potatoes and broccoli. The vegetables could have been a bit hotter, but the fish was very good, hot and tasty, with no bones. The service was good, too. The staff was young, but friendly. There were plenty of new booths and tables which could accomodate quite a few diners. I liked my visit here, and it's nice to have a new service stop along I-30 here in Bowie County, Texas.

Pizza Hut was very close to our hotel so we went there for dinner. The pizza and breadsticks were good (if you're a fan of Pizza Hut). Our waiter was very nice. They were understaffed for a Friday night (our waiter said they were 2 people short), but our service was still good. The building is a bit old and there was a leak dripping in a bucket, but otherwise our experience was fine.

I used the drive thru at Church's Chicken in New Boston and ordered their Chicken Fried Steak meal. It came with the steak, brown gravy, biscuit, mashed potatoes and cole slaw, and a small Coca Cola. The bill came to just $5.40. I can't remember the last time I paid so little for a meal like that. It was good, too. The service was good. I was impressed. This Church's Chicken is on Highway 8, which is also McCoy Blvd., about a mile south of Interstate 30, and just north of the overpass over US 82, east of downtown New Boston. Brookshire's Supermarket, and the Sonic Drive In are nearby.
