La Cucina is a real Italian homey kitchen offering 28 seats. The dining room is situated inside of the kitchen. We cook entirely from scratch. Always ready to experiment new recipies, but strongly influenced by the traditional cuisine of Milan and Lombardy. From our passion for the art of eating well and from our family to yours, we hope you enjoy these delicious recipies from our Italian timeless tradition.
The other reviews say it all. I wanted to add to the glowing comments already posted.
This is a small but wonderful restaurant located outside of Mountain City TN. Reservations are recommended as seating is limited.
The owner Matteo and his crew work very hard to provide a memorable dining experience. The setting is welcoming and like being in his home.
Its rare for me to give an excellent (5 buttons) rating, but this one deserves it!
If you are in the area and can plan ahead don't miss this experience.

Dining options, particularly if you're avoiding fast food, are not overwhelming in Mountain City, and certainly not on Mondays, which is how we defaulted to the Coffee House Cafe. It's fine. It's not exceptional, but it's fine. The hot ham and cheese was good, even though the cheese was a Kraft single. My spouse's caramel latte was quite good. The pasta salad is excellent, not mayonnaise-y or swamped with dressing. The staff is friendly, but certainly not rushed. We were the only people in the place for a while, and service still took a bit. We never got our check, and had to ask for it at the register. If you're in Mountain City for lunch on a Monday, this is going to be as good as it gets, and it's not bad at all, just not exciting from a culinary perspective.

The Subas have mastered hospitality, cooking, and baking. Their little restaurant is a landmark because of the great food, excellent service and outstanding value. Small dining room is cozy, charming and busy. Menu is vast. Desserts are massive and irresistible.
Today we had Broccoli Cheddar soup (fresh cracked pepper!), Angel hair pasta with shrimp in seasoned olive oil with parmesan cheese, Chicken Parmesan with broccoli, Red Velvet Cheesecake and the Chocolate Eclair. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was quick and attentive.

Whenever I get the wonderful chance to eat here, I try to take advantage of it. have you ever had regrets about anything? as for me, I regret not being able to eat here more often. I regret not going to the dessert table first, I regret only being able to eat so much of their amazing food that I could pop.
All in all, this place never gives me anything but amazing and succulent dishes. The service is great, the people are VERY friendly and the price is very reasonable. I am not sure what that person from Columbia was talking about when he mentioned not to bother but I can see from the reviews that he must have eaten in the golf shop or something because the food here is far from Sams Club.
They aim to please and I have uploaded a picture of Chef Peter... this place is his fault.

We specifically visited The Tributary because we liked the sound of their salad bar and soups as described on their website. It was definitely a soup day when we visited. Alas, the soup and salad bar are no longer available (the website, to this day,...MoreI appreciate your frustration.... Completely my fault as I had removed the tab for salad bar, and thought I had removed the description I know if you were geared up for a salad bar with HOT soup, you were more than disappointed, again, my apologies!

Mike's was given the #2 slot in barbecue in East Tennessee by Blue Ridge Country magazine, so my husband, sister, and I were eager to try it. We were disappointed, because the shaved pork was very, very fatty. I don't expect super-lean barbecue from a place that shaves the meat, because of course the fat is part of the process, but this was nearly ALL fat. The sides--slaw, rolls, fries--were great, and those are what I ate. The portions are generous, but I lost my appetite trying to find some pork lean enough to eat. I'm not going to say I'll never go back, but next time I'll try a sub instead.

Have had the meatloaf which was just "meatloaf". Had the fish which really isn't up to fish standards unless you just want frozen fish fried. But guess what, the Philly cheese steak was really, really good. Who knew? Hamburgers not bad. Vegetable soup great. Ask before you order, maybe they will steer you in the right direction

Recently remodeled and clean. Large selection at buffet ranging from chicken with broccoli to mac and cheese. Lots to choose from and everything I've tried has been good. Friendly owners and waitresses. They keep bringing out fresh food throughout the day. I go there weekly to eat and would recommend it to anyone. Free drink with eat in buffet which is around $8.50 for lunch and $9.75 for dinner. The last fortune cookie I got there stated "stay healthy, eat more Chinese food" LOL. That ranks 2nd to the one I got several years ago when I was on a date that said "Your love life is about to improve"....

Seriously, there is no place for dinner on Tuesday in Mountain City, TN. So my hungry husband and I went for a pizza. This place is a favorite of the locals, I guess. And they do have a good salad bar. Salad bar sounded refreshing and if was.
However the pizza was under cooked on top and slightly burned on the bottom. We ordered a 12" veggie pizza and it was more than the 2 of us could eat. They go very, very heavy on the cheese!!! If you don't want a plate of cheese, ask for light cheese.
On the other hand, they don't believe in pizza sauce. I had been advised to ask for extra sauce which I did, but you could barely see it.
The veggies were piled on thick! Great, but they were raw. We like our veggies cooked on a pizza. With all the cheese and veggies, the crust was soggy.
The staff was not professional nor well trained.
So there you have it.

This is a friendly and cozy place with reasonable prices. I stopped in for breakfast and had a good meal of sausage, eggs and hashbrowns, all fresh and hot. They were served with a biscuit that was completely cold, a little disappointing, since just a little while on the grill would have made it wonderful. Will definitely visit again. Service was very good.
