Cup & Saucer Restaurant

This place got good reviews on Tripadvisor so we decided to stop. This place is not what I expected. I thought it was a little dirty and the locals were all looking at us when we walked in. Although, they were very friendly. There was just one lady there that seemed to be the chief cook and bottle washer, who was extremely friendly. The food was very cheap but I thought it wasn't that good. I got biscuits and gravy and there was hardly any sausage in the gravy. It was tasty though. My husband got eggs and hash browns and toast. The food came out extremely quickly and was tasty but I just thought the place needed at little TLC. I did notice a for sale sign in the window so maybe there is no need to keep it up. Our entire bill was only $10 and some change. Very cheap eats.

This is a very nice new store. We ordered the $5 chicken lunch . The pieces of chicken were huge Each piece was a complete breast half. It included a drink and a small Blizzard. It was more than either one of us could eat. Their service was excellent and friendly. The store is very very clean. It is a great place to stop for lunch

If making the trek to Muddy Pond, you must stop and eat at this bakery. Be sure to get there early, because they closed at 2 on the day we were there.

Subway

Reviewed By KOCM - Memphis, Tennessee

The parking lot and drive thru configuration for this stand-alone unit was odd to me, but inside was typical Subway. They didnt have the advertised carved Turkey yet, but that was okay. The place was clean, the staff were friendly and prompt, and the food was good. We were able to get in and out quickly without breaking the bank. Would visit again.

You reach the rural community of Muddy Pond and The Country Porch after a long slog (approx. 15 miles, 30 minutes) from the interstate. If you are pressed for time or are looking for quilts and crafts, skip this place and continue another half mile or so to the Muddy Pond General Store. Also it is Mennonite owned and the atmosphere seemed more friendly than here. I don't know if The County Porch is Mennonite owned or not, but it is your only option if you want a sit down meal. Service was not exactly cheerful. Granted, it was nearing the 5 pm closing time when we got there, but the employees acted like we were there to shoplift instead of to shop. Most of the cans/ jars were items "imported" from Amish settlements just a few miles from home so I couldn't see buying any. They did have some locally baked goods and I bought the last two marked down cinnamon rolls for me and my son. They were okay, but not great. Also bought some holiday tea on mark down. It seemed like a lot of the other merchandise was over priced. The store does offer free ice water (like the famous Wall Drug of South Dakota, for those of you who have been out West). Overall, I rate it as an average stop, not terrible but I wouldn't drive that far out of the way just to go there.

Ben Anna's is known only to the locals in Monterey and Cookeville. This is a cute looking cafe that doubles as an antique store. Sandwiches are great, service is fast and the food is absolutely Momma made and they are only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays! If you happen to be on I-40 and need to grab a bite in Monterey try this place!

A few years ago, this Hardee's had a sign out front proclaiming their biscuit maker Had won the best biscuits in America (Hardee's) contest. Don't know if she's still there, but I've never had a bad biscuit or a cup of coffee that wasn't hot and strong here. I have family in town and often catch a bite here when I visits.

Just stopped here for some quick refreshments as we traveled from Key West back to Tennessee. Service was excellent. Restrooms were very clean as was the entire restaurant. It was nice to get a 60 cent senior coffee, freshly brewed instead of the much pricier and larger ones. A nice quick stop and a much needed break. Hooray for Burger King!

Tapatia Tienda La

Reviewed By Konasmother - Monterey, Tennessee

My husband and I had just moved into the community, had friends visit, and, on the recommendation of a service person, we went to Tapatia Tienda La. While our table was not next to the restroom, the odor was definitely noticeable. Fortunately our friends sat with their backs toward the restroom. It was embarrassing, and we won’t go back. The food was good, but hard to enjoy under the circumstances. Also, they don’t serve beer which is a must with Mexican food for my husband and friends.
